Hi Guys & Girls,

Not really good with these newbie messages but here goes :D

I've been into Jap cars for years and owned a Nissan Silvia for the last 4 years, but been looking to sensible myself up a bit (plus I have orders from 'er indoors' to get something a bit more adult.... :hmmm:

I run my local Japanese Car Club here in Dorset strangely called the Dorset Japanese Car Club www.djcc.co

so yes, I've been looking at both the mazda 3 & 6 mps, currently the 3 is winning but it'll be a used one, roughly 06 or thereabouts.

Having been a Nissan owner for years I'm not really sure where to start about each model and so on and sure theres lots to learn so expect plenty of newb questions!

Cheers
Alex

Ah yeah, I know Mal, his 6 was my inspiration to look at the mps, still not sure if I want a 3 or 6 though really. Still trying to find out the differences etc

I'd say go for a 3 for 3 reasons;

1.To keep your youthfulness

2.You'll get a newer car for your money

3.More tuning options

This was what I was thinking  but what does the 3 loose out on vs the 6 for a car aged around the 06/07 mark?

Hello & :welcome:

Sounds like a good choice!

I think the 3 MPS will only go back as far as 2007, but I could be wrong.
The 6 MPS has 4wd if that's important? Also if you were to get a early 6MPS then the road tax would be nearly half comapared to the £400 odd it is for both the mk1 3 MPS and the 6 MPS 2006+ registered.

I have never compared the 3 to the 6 as I was after a hatch so never looked into the 6, but it would really come down to the size your after I think.

Either way I hope you find yourself a great example...to me the most important would be reasnoably low miles with service history and also watch out for any 'common faults' smokey turbo could be possible but if you let the car idle for 10 mins and it doesn't smoke then you will be fine from what I've read...happy hunting

Get a six.

The six is cooler.
It's more rare.
It's a proper sleeper.
More people will ask you what it is and give approving nods.
It has a better interior and more equipment.
It has a grown up image and you don't need a baseball cap to drive it :kick:

The three is quicker... from about 20mph upwards

Whatever you get is a lot of car for the money. Because they are both very rare, it might be down to finding a good example of either. I very rarely see either. Best of luck.
