Interestingly enough, I did Donington to Swynnerton and back at an aaverage of 21mpg without giving any concern to fuel at all. I just wanted to see what I would get if I caned the A50 - well, i say caned but I had me kids in teh back - and then had a good little blast for the last stinton country roads. I thought it would have been less since I really didn't hang back and 99.9mph on cruise control on the A50 isn't as fuel thirsty as you might imagine

Obviously I only did all of that hypothetically and have never driven above 70mph in my life

haha, so what mileage did you get to the tank, can't imagine much, obviously yours will be bigger than 60 litres, my mondeo was 70, but i bet you had a good time,lol

It's 60l yeah but with 5 as a reserve so if I fill up at empty, it's 55l

Oh, and that would make a tank 250m at that rate of burn. I could usually average 28mpg on a journey like that when I'm driving economically. That means today's trip cost me £28 and would normally have cost £22 which means ... in conclusion, that me driving quickly Vs me driving economically costs me roughly an extra £6 per 100 miles or 6p/m if you like.

i know what i would do, i might have to give that a try, i am at work next week and i usually drive, well the speed limit, as i want to get home, and see what difference that makes, if i got 300, i would be happy with 260ish, not sure about the wife though

hello! filled up my 6 at jct 13 M5 until it "clicked" had plenty of time to get to goodison park, ha! 100 miles later the needle was inline with the "full" line but never again! my god that was boring!

haha, oh what i would give for the good old traditional needle gauge, these blocks are no good
