Interestingly enough, I did Donington to Swynnerton and back at an aaverage of 21mpg without giving any concern to fuel at all. I just wanted to see what I would get if I caned the A50 - well, i say caned but I had me kids in teh back - and then had a good little blast for the last stinton country roads. I thought it would have been less since I really didn't hang back and 99.9mph on cruise control on the A50 isn't as fuel thirsty as you might imagine Obviously I only did all of that hypothetically and have never driven above 70mph in my life

It's 60l yeah but with 5 as a reserve so if I fill up at empty, it's 55l Oh, and that would make a tank 250m at that rate of burn. I could usually average 28mpg on a journey like that when I'm driving economically. That means today's trip cost me £28 and would normally have cost £22 which means ... in conclusion, that me driving quickly Vs me driving economically costs me roughly an extra £6 per 100 miles or 6p/m if you like.
