Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm a new Mazda 3 MPS owner from Sheffield, only just got the car and i love it. Its a Black Mica Mazda 3 MPS with the aero kit on a 08 plate.

My car history starts with a Pug 306 when i first past my test, had this for about 4/5 years, which was then followed by a Ford Focus ST-3. Had the ST for just over a year n half but after getting a gf in Newcastle and an 06 plate starting to rust (2 years ago when it started rusting so the car was only 4 years old), i decided to get something more economical a Ford Focus 1.6 tdci, however after learning of the DPF nightmares other people have had and it started leaking in the boot and Ford refused to sort it saw me going back to the Car People where i happened to come across the MPS. I loved the look of it so took it for a couple of test drives fell in love with it and decided to part ex. I now enjoy driving again and on my 3rd car within a year and will never go back to owning a Ford.

Looking to foward to driving many happy miles with the MPS, only downside is the hefty tax and petrol consumption tho the insurance cheered me up only £578 for a 25 year old lad with 3 points.

Also looking forward to chatting with some fellow MPS owners. Hope you all have had a good xmas and new year.

Shaun

Hi mate welcome to the forum. I was considering an ST-3 when i was buying my MPS but the cheaper insurance, more power and how much rarer the MPS is swung it for me.

Have you got any plans for the MPS or leaving it standard?

yeah the rarity factor was a very big appeal to me and though i thought about another ST the my previous history with Ford and with how common they are becoming put me off.

i want to make some changes and make it my own etc but gonna find out whats the best to do before i make any decisions so for now its just the small mods, i.e. sidelights etc

I do love the noise of a ST with an aftermarket exhaust tho. I really need to change my sidelights aswell to match the xenons as there yellow at the moment. If your just going for basic modifictions then I'd advice an air filter, removal of the second cat and a Hypertech tuning box. I've just done all of this aswell as a TIP and Forge Recirculation Valve and it has really changed the car and the way it drives.

i was adicted to the noise of the ST, the Volvo 5 Pot engine was ace and like u said with a custom exhaust it was just amazing, but the car was seriously let down by Fords shoddy bodywork and a few mechanical problems.

thanks for the modding advice, is there a good exhaust upgrade with a decent noise? dont wont anything too loud and crazy but just something that makes me think.........sweeeeeeeeet lol

Unfortunatly it seems like Ford still haven't sorted out there rusting problem that there famous for.

In regards to an exhaust im not sure, I was considering a Corksport but most the ones I've seen fitted sit to far out the back instead of flush with the bumper. There's always the HKS, Greedy and a couple if others. Alot of people seem to be going for custom made ones from exhaust fabricators as you can choose the tip and sound to a point.

Mazdas aren't that brilliant when it comes to rust.
