I put a request through 1st choice ( www.1stchoice.co.uk) and got 6 or 7 responses. I've opted for a reconditioned engine via Eurojap (0161 865 8080, chap's name is Sol). I've just ordered it today so won't be absolutely sure it's the right one until it turns up, but they're pleasant enough to deal with and have been really good answering all my questions. They offer an exchange service so once the recon engine is installed, they collect the old one and take it away to recondition and sell on, thus keeping the price down. The recon engine with 12 months warranty came in in the same price bracket as 2nd hand ones with 3 months warranty.

I've checked and double checked. I've sent my number plate for them to check and they insist it's the correct one. I've quoted 2.3L Disi Turbo (L3-VDT) to them on my e-mails. But heck, with the luck I've had with this car no doubt it'll turn out to be a diesel.

how much was it Gordy if ye dont mind me askin.... do ye know what the cost was without the exchange... i'd quite interested in keeping the old engine for parts ect.... i know the variable valve unit can play up and at around £400 a pop might be more economical to keep the old unit
