My son has the above car, it recently suffered a engine failure caused by No 2 conrod breaking and going through side of engine,it has only 36000 miles on the clock and has been fully serviced by Mazda dearlership.Does this happen alot?

i think theres been a few cases of this.is the car still under warranty?and what was mazda's opinion on the matter seen as it has full mazda service hitory?

Re Warranty the answer is no,just out by 8 weeks,. the warranty was 5 yrs or 100,000 mls. Mazda UK, Are offering 20% of the total repair,which could be £8500.00 +vat. This figure was quoted by the Mazda dealership where the car was purchased from, it was an Ex demonstrator.

That is stupid! I would complain again and point out it is only 8 weeks outside of warranty again. £10k for an engine for a car that isn't worth that much? Just buy a block from Cp-e for $3000!

It has happend to a few owners but that new engine price is shocking
