Hi All,

Just took the plunge and bought the 3 MkI MPS Aero (True Red) on an 09 plate - I pick it up next weekend after spending 6 months looking for a mid-life crisis car. I had been looking at:

Alfa 159 2.4 JTDM Sportwagon
Lancer Ralliart
Jag XF 3.0

but given that I saw this little red dragon on Autotrader for just under 13K and less than 10K miles on the clock, I took a punt! Any general hints and tips welcome (e.g. 95 vs 98 RON fuel, replacement tyres, taking out second mortgage to pay for insurance/tax etc).

Cheers,

:)

Richard (sig TBC once in possesion of my MPS)

Hi All,

thanks for the Forum welcome!

Am now going to try pick my mps up next Monday - currently updating my TomTom with the latest speed camera data... will try and post some pics next week and then start feeding my accessories habit.

Haven't felt this excited since I was a kid at Christmas :)

Richard

Drrkscott, welcome to the site, with you saying'mid life crisis'I am presuming you are knocking on the door of forty,in which case your insurance [depending on your NCB]should not be excessive,I had the new shape Civic type R before my 3mps and that was dearer to insure, yet there is no comparison in speed, the 3 knocks spots off the CTR.The 3,s are great and so exclusive, enjoy.

Hi Hank,

I'm keeping my old Volvo S60 for a little while to transfer my private plate, so I can't move my maximum NCB onto the mps until it's sold :-(

It's going to be £66/month with a 5 year NCB for a 2nd car under the same insurance company - I can't help thinking I'm being ripped off?!

North of £1K for tax and insurance (I understand the MkII 3 mps is just under the max band so is only £205) - I hope it drives as well as forum members say!

Richard

P.S. and yes I'm now in the "sensible driver" category of risk ;-)

Did just that - guess what? Sky are HALF the price, so I have immediately taken up the insurance for the exact same cover with only a £250 excess.

Thanks to this forum, I just saved almost £400! What accessories can I get for that sort of money?
