Dolf as far as I know turbopacs stage 2 I think is for cas with exhaust and breathing mods to gain that extra 20bhp. I was booked in to Turbo pacs in November but was advised not to go there by various mazda3 forum members but that's something you would haveto read up on and decide for yourself.
I have a few mods on my car and is is XO Power tuning at the moment awaiting some carillo forged rods to arrive. So it should be ok for some nice power over the next few months.
With a map and basic mods mpg will no doubt decrease but it will be hardly noticeable, only when u fit bigger turbos injectors etc is when you notice a noticeable drop in mpg iirc.

(wish my English was as entertaining to read as yours )

Cheers for that Jamie...what was the consensus of the peeps who warned you away from Turbo Pacs?...I'm new to the concept of modifying a motor but basically my 'big plan' is to increase power without jeopardising the car's diminutive (comparatively) look.

How many Mazda 3MPS Mk 1's are there knocking around these (Blighty's) shores?...does anybody know?...just curious.
.

Hi here is the link to the thread that i started .. http://www.mazda3forums.co.uk/index.php ... 652.0.html

it would be interesting how many 3mps's actually have been sold in the uk... im guessing a 2500ish mk1's...?

earlier quote...'Just read the chat about these winter tyres versus Snow Socks versus 'leave your car on the drive'...fortunately the snow in my neck of the woods was only a light spattering which has only made for a bit of slippage on very minor thoroughfares. However, not enough for me to have to consider new footwear for the Mazdy thankfully...'

Unbelievable!!!...woke this very morning to a shit load more of the white stuff...trust me to open my voluminous oral cavity!!
I was one of the first in the street to leave my imprint on the virgin snow canvass as I brushed the fine powder off my Mazdy (using a large soft brush, whose real purpose is to wash house windows and hard to reach conservatory rooves)...and was slip sliding for a bit after reversing from the drive and negotiating the 100 yards to the main road. I put it in 2nd gear immediately for extra traction but was conscious not to let my foot up too far on the clutch as could feel the horses under the bonnet whinnying and trying to break loose....

I know that the reason the 3 is so special is because of the huge power running through the front wheels only and that's what makes it such a 'wild cannon' and more fun to live with day in day out...BUT...and only for the purposes of discussion...what would be the result of giving the 3 AWD like the 6?...I know that would mean extra weight and therefore slightly (the 3 would still be lighter than the 6) reduced acceleration times through the gears BUT wouldn't it gain time on pulling away due to extra traction and therefore be as quick as an S3 or the like from 0-62mph...(I realise that the 3 is quicker than the S3 through the gears) and make it easier to forge its way through snow dunes?...

Parked my Mazdy well away from my usual spot at work today, as would have been more nervous than Saddam Hussain when the lid of his underground hidey-hole was removed by the American army, than to watch the other vehicles twitching and lurching in close proximity...I think I made the right decision...

My brother in law was gob-smacked when he learned that the Mk1 was FWD. His reasoning was that the 147GTA didn't catch on so why should something similar from a Jap manufacturer. Much better to have a pop at Subaru and the Evos who had not been challenged except by the S3.
Pretty sure the MKiii will be AWD with an electric motor driving the rear wheels.

Happy new year to one and all!...hope you all had a good one! ...can't believe it's the 4th already...and I'm looking forward to returning to work...hmmm

Just wanted to share my experience from last evening as I returned from an enjoyable afternoon spent with, amongst others, my two goddaughters in Lancastrious....it was around 2100 hours and I was approximately 5 miles from my homestead and the final stretch of the M56 before I had to turn onto the M53...just after the 'watch your distance from the car in front chevrons'. I was of course keeping to the national speed limit...especially as I had my girlfriend riding pillion with me...and overtook a white Renault Megane III RS, which was tootling along in the middle lane. As I passed him (I'm guessing it was a him)...he did the famous and predictable shift over into the 3rd lane behind my good self. After passing slower moving vehicles I then manoeuvred back into the central lane, still keeping it on or around the national speed limit...then I noticed the Megane suddenly pick up a bit of momentum and started coming up on my outside flank...it was obvious he wanted to gain some sort of revenge for me idling past him a couple of minutes earlier...with the girlfriend next to me, I did think about letting it go and watching him pass me by...but I can resist everything except temptation...so hit the turbo-boost (accelerator)...still making sure to remain within the national speed limit of course...was in 6th gear so conscious that forward propulsion was not going to be as rapid as had I elected to drop down into 5th...it was clear that Megane man was preparing himself for an aerial dog fight as there was only a nanosecond between us both putting our pedals to the metal...then the really enjoyable bit ensued...I left him in my rear view mirror!!...I didn't look down at the speedometer...but guess I was touching 75-77mph tops...hmmm...he may be able to cut a few seconds off me on a circuit of Magny Cours...but on the tarmac of this nation's highways and byways...I showed him the power of the Mazdy 3mps!!

And now I'm off to bed...still smiling...naturally...
