Hi I'm Waltsinhull - cos my name is Walts and I'm in/near Hull

I've just completed a 380 mile round trip to pick up forum member Antony Charlton's 6 MPS - leaving him with my pride and joy Mazda RX8.

Looking forward to ownership on the basis of the drive home through the lake district and north yorkshire.

I'll get myself an avatar shot done tomorrow.

Thank you for your warm welcomes chaps.

To answer your question, Geezertip...

The RX8, as a purpose built sportscar, feels more special to sit in - in fact the interior is really superb considering that it is now 7 years old.

I prefer the seats and low slung driving position to the 6, but the 6 feels much bigger and airier - on account that it is! Equipment is pretty similar.

My RX8 was the 231, so power is not too far shy of the 6, but the delivery is very different - the 6 being an almost diesel like delivery - whereas the RX8 is an addictively linear aural sensation as the revs build to the 9 000 limit.

Having driven both cars for 180 miles or so today, the RX8 felt more special and undoubtedly handles and rides better - quite BMW like - but my needs are for something a bit more practical at the moment, so the 6 is the future :)

I may well slip another RX8 onto the drive at some point

I sometimes miss my RX8 but the mps is more practical and much more stealthy

It is almost economical on fuel in comparison to the rex not quite so many garage trips for fuel stops......

The RX8 still looks good today and it benefits from a clever rear access which sets it apart. Interesting to see how they will be seen 10 years from now.
