Hi Guys, Name is Kev and I live in Fife . I like my Jap cars and am thinking of changing to Mazda - was thinking mark 1 , 3mps but came across a CX-7 which I had never really considered until I realised it had the same engine. Obviously the 3 will be a different drive entirely but the recent weather is swaying me towards the CX - if I could find one ! I saw a good one at local garage last Sunday -spent that evening doing my research etc and decided it was a decent buy. Planned to go down and haggle first chance I could get etc since I did not have my own car with me to get trade in price to find the car had been sold on Monday. I can't find any others in Scotland at all so might just go back to original plan of a 3 instead. My current car is lexus is200 which I had carried out a few mods to - including fitting a TTE supercharger . Removed the charger this week and as soon as car sells I will be hunting for either cx-7 or 3 mps . If anyone happens to be thinking of selling up over the next month or so let me know guys... oh and just one question - it seems that neither come with bluetooth - how easy to retrofit ? what's the best options if you have bose stereo etc ? (ok thats 2 questions) .

Hello, go for the 3 it has to be a far more fun to drive than the cx
Either way good luck with the hunting, interesting is200 by the sounds of it..... Any pics?

No problem, well my opinion is that for 10 months of the year we have no snow, so i'd rather struggle along with the MPS for 2 months and then enjoy the other 10 months with a grin from ear to ear driving the MPS. I like you was also close to buying a 4x4 and yes at this time of the year i wish i did, but come summer I will be happy as a pig in sh!t.

Welcome. I have family in Fife, hope your enjoying the weather. To be honest the 3 mps isn't that bad in the snow but with heavy heavy stuff two more driven wheels will obviously help. Just weigh up your options, when it's dry, the 3 MPS will be much much quicker, will do more miles to the gallon and has almost as much load space in the boot. The CX-7 is still quick but is heavier obviously and you don't get the mahoosive calipers you do on the MPS so both acceleration and braking is not as good. Tyres are more expensive on the CX-7, but you do get more leg room, a higher driving position if you like looking over hedges and 4wd. Allthough the 6MPS is your other option if your happy to look at a slightly older vehicle. Better dynamics overall than the CX-7 allthough it shares most of it parts with it, your obviously looking at a different car alltogether but with the same main needs that your after, more grip with 4WD.

Cheers for above - sums up the issues very well. Unfortunately the 6 is not an option - car I buy must be no older than three years when I buy it . ( this is a condition put on me by my work ) Think mps is way to go.... but need to sell the lexus first .

If you can't have a 6MPS then get a 3MPS and get some winter tyres on order for next year. Too late for this year - no stock.
