Hi all!

After a few weeks of hunting for a 6 MPS I finally found a good one.

Had a 2.5 hour drive up to the Midlands, between Rugeley and Stafford last night to see a 2007 model (56 plate) in silver,
88,000 on the clock, FSH + all receipts - lots of replacement parts incl new discs/pads all round, Goodyear F1's, new starter motor,
new air-con condenser + pipes, suspension overhaul within the last 2 years, rear engine mount, MOT to Nov 2015, taxed to end of May 2015.
Other than a digital boost gauge in the centre air-vent the car is standard.

Seller also throwing in a Sure Full3 Aeros intake system - not fitted as the car wasn't "running right" when he fitted it - lots of hesitancy in acceleration. Any ideas why? Can these be fitted without a remap?

Agreed on a good price and collect on Friday :-)

Don't think I'll fit the Sure intake...as it's loud and sounds like an asthmatic Darth Vader! Looking for something quieter - so open to suggestions.
I'll probably sell the Sure either on here or on eBay.

I intend to live with the standard car for a little while, then change intake, exhaust, re-map.

Great forum - lots of very useful information and you seem to be a good bunch! I'm no stranger to forums having used other car marque forums, previous owned cars:

TVR s3c (MY 1990)
Subaru Impreza WRX Japanese import (MY 1995)
Audi S3 Quattro (MY 2001)
Renaultsport Megane dCi 175 Lux (MY 2008) - sold last week

The Renault had great torque (265lb ft) - so wanted something in the similar figures but with 4 doors.
Tried a Subaru Forester 2.5 XT out which was fun, but was an auto box (dreadful 4 speed) and lacked cabin comforts/toys.

Love how discrete the 6 MPS is over an Impreza but with similar handling and performance - certainly takes me back to my Subaru days!

Looking forward to enjoying my new purchase.

Geoff

That intake would of made the car run like a bag of spanners without a map due to the extra air and the ecu not changing the fueling to suit.

Thought as much! Popped into my local Jap tuner/garage in Aylesbury (DS Autos) and they said the same.

That said, is there a different intake I could consider to put straight on without a remap? Or a different panel filter in the first instance?

good 1 m8 and hope you enjoy it.

Only thought I'd post as the "taxed to end of May 2015" is balls as you can't transfer tax anymore, so if you now have the car in your possession then it's technically untaxed atm... Just thought I'd warn you as it sounds like a lot of people are getting caught out. It was even in the news the other week:

Panel filter isn't worth it.
Corksport or JBRs intake can go on without the need for a map. Though a map gives the most benefit from one

Welcome to the forum Geoff! Has the car had the VVT replaced in its life time? If not then budget £500 for it at some point.
I too live in Aylesbury so you'll maybe see my car around from time to time. Always happy to meet up.

Car sounds like a nice one, I am sure it'll look after you :).

If you want to sell the intake, PM me, I may be interested.

It's not had the VVT replaced...but will need to get it done. What mileage should it be done?

Who do you use to service yours?

May already have someone interested in the intake - straight swap for a Corksport SRI/TIP. But will keep you posted and PM you.

Its not really a miles thing, it's just a thing - it can go wrong at any time. If when you start the car from cold and it makes a rattle for a second or two then you know the VVT is going south. Mine was done by the previous owner on 57k as it was starting to show signs of failure. I've heard a few with the issue so always happy to give yours a listen from a cold start.

Mine hasn't been serviced by me yet, but the likelihood is that I'll be doing it myself with my gf's dad as he is a mechanic.

No worries on the intake, it was speculative. I have one on the car already, but its not very tidy. I'll be replacing it with a better one when I upgrade the turbo at some point anyway.

Collected the MPS6 last Friday, but what with being away on business I've not had a chance to enjoy the car properly yet.
Pleased to discover that it has an XCarLink installed which I only discovered when I collected it.

TheAngryDog popped over yesterday to have a listen to the engine - sounds like I need a VVT replacement.
Possibly may reflect in the price I paid for the car...though everything else is OK...immaculate inside and out, with one small dent in a door
and a scuff - both easily repairable. Got some good advice on mod's from AngryDog too...very helpful and knowledgeable.

So, once I've sorted the VVT I have in mind the following modifications:

> Cat 2 delete and replaced with Corksport race pipe

> HPFP internals

> Corksport SRI + TIP

> Forge BPV

> eTune by Justin

Very impressed with the forum and how friendly and helpful the members are!!

I think you got a good deal for the price you paid Geoff, its a nice car and I dont think you'd lose on it if you sold it any time soon.

I could be wrong about the VVT, but its worth getting a 2nd / 3rd opinion.

Deffo cannot go wrong for the price you paid mate
