Hey guys bought myself a mk1 MPs on 61k in silver just before Christmas and loving it so far. The car has been serviced by Mazda up until its latest and is due another now I'm thinking so was planning to get it in to my local garage, other than standard service items are there any things I should ask them to look at? The suspension can be a bit clunky over bumps and I have read that this is fairly common, is it worth me getting them to check the shocks/bushes to see the cause? Also I want to be 100% sure that I do not fall foul of this vvt chain issue, I notice a small noise on start up of the car but other than that the engine seems to sound sweet, any tips on what I am listening out for?

Anything else I should look out for early on?

Thanks for any info

A quick video of the drivers side of the engine when being turned on from a cold start will give a rough idea for us to say.

Thanks guys, I will try and get a vid of the engine start up posted asap. What gearbox oil do you suggest running? Mine can be a bit lumpy when cold going in to 2nd or is this just something to live with?

Thanks for welcomes

The gearbox oil is a little hit and miss, what works on one mps may not on another :(

And so the spending begins....

I have booked the car in next week for a full service and gearbox oil change (need to find the preferred oil) and they are going to check the suspension bushes for me.

I have also asked them to remove the cam cover and check for any chain slap marks underneath, is this the most fool proof way to find out if I am in need of some chain/vvt work?

Thanks again for the help guys
