I sold my 3mps in late September because I changed jobs which included a 80 mile per day commute. After driving my girlfriends c2 hdi for 3 months I have spent every evening looking for something else, I looked at VW, Skoda etc... but everything was either boring or overpriced. Anyway after a lot of debating I have decided to purchase another 3 and managed to find a 07 plate red aero with 59k for an absolute bargain - or so I hope! I found this car on ebay and couldn't believe I actually won it... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/131378758470I'm hoping the car is as good as it looks/sounds when I view it tomorrow. Any advice/guidance? Thanks Lee

back to the Lee Just have read the description of thar car and looks like it doesn't have any service history at all. If it was dealership then you could take it back to them but from private seller it's bit of a risk, unless you can inspect everything properly and suss any thing odd out, use that for haggling. For 59k that's a very good price, I wonder if you could get service history from Mazda dealership, I got mine for free after doing a friendly request. MOT would give the mileage away too. Advert also says it was never modified, that only means with any signs of modifications you've to proceed with caution. I myself is a six ton weight noob but if you are also noob then take someone with you who knows about car engines. If you happened to have elm327 already then record the entire test drive, with permission of course. Good luck mate

When I get the VIN number I can get a more comprehensive check. Furthermore, the current owner has owned the car for the last 5 years which matches what she mentioned, which is filling me with some confidence.

They wanted 5k for it and was annoyed that it went for 3.6k so I doubt they would have moved on the price.

That'd have pissed me off to the hell, putting advert for 3.5k and asking 5k later, wasted time

"Didn't know" Moreso they were hoping the buyer didn't know I would guess :p shame like, I would've tried to haggle them a bit ~600 less an get the new kit and have mr hastie fit it. At least we know about it now We can let any other potential buyers that may pop on here about it

I fuckin hate private sales, I was on the other side selling and the amount of time wasters is unbelievable. Mine is in great nick and still not good enough for some people, and some of the dogs I seen when buying was just beyond me. Also some of the requests I was asked was just ludicrous. You'd think it was a £50k car.
OP: just bide your time, a good example will come up soon enough.

Unfortunately, encounters with private buyers are a bit of a lottery. I think that when some buyers start looking around they are chasing a dream car. If you are the first viewing then it is unlikely that you will get a sale. There will be "something" wrong with it. After a few viewings, reality kicks in. Then you get a sale.
