So I picked my MPS up last night after a 2 week wait. The garage I got it from were a bit useless but we got there in the end. Drove it straight home 150miles for leave and it was epic I loved every min. Feels pretty quick for a standard car and everything is lovely and smooth.

However... Today when out for a drive just chilling the engine management light came on- got a Cobb v3 coming Monday so that will hopefully help me diagnose it. There aren't any tell tail signs of anything being wrong so it's a bit odd. How often are the service intervals and if it was due- would that be the light that comes on? Anyone know how to reset the service light?

The Drivers window controls seem faulty too and only seem to work for the drivers window not the other three- I've pressed the window lock switch but it doesn't do anything.

I'd appreciate any help, not exactly the reliability I was expecting from a 44k jap car. Can't exactly go back to the garage either as they are now 150miles away for another three weeks :(

The 3 owners should confirm that there is no service light on these cars.

The window thing sounds like you need to rearm the other windows by going around each one in turn. You wind each one down and then lift it to the top until you hear a click. It needs to be done every time you reconnect the battery.

The light could be anything. The code will reveal all.

If it was bought from Mazda, you should be able to get a local dealer to sort it under warranty.

No it was bought from an independent garage :( can't take it back it miles away :( around 3 hours and then I'd have to travel back up to collect it afterwards. I'll pop it to my local mazda and see what happen. I've got a warranty with it where any vat registered garage can fix it but not sure how good the warranty will prove to be

Yeah mate I'd not be going having anything done by it if you bought it and then the next day the EML was on.
Ideally, and as problematic as this may be, you need to stop driving it, advise them of the problems and possibly (depending what the error code chucks out) reject the car under SoGA and make a note of the mileage if its anything serious.

Did they supply the warranty with the sale or is it a 3rd party one?

The warning light was nothing, potentially they've used the wrong grade fuel as they gave me it with a full tank but very much doubt they used the good stuff. Had the fault cleared a week now and it seems fine. The vvt is in need of being replaced but I'm getting hat done under warranty so I'm not that bothered as long as the work goes well.

It's a third party warranty but they have been great if I'm honest, can't fault them so far. I took it to my garage I've used for years and the warranty authorised them to carry out the work. So hopefully I'll end up with a 44,600 mile car with proof of the Vvt being changed :) fingers crossed it all goes well though

Get a list of what they change regards the VVT as changing just one or two parts is the wrong way to do it

The garage doing Jase's car have been sent the engine build manual, my timing tools and will have the full kit supplied by Nate.
