I don't actually own an MPS 'yet' but I've been browsing Autotrader like crazy. Just a little unsure on what I want exactly. I like the look of all the MPS but would it be worth splashing that extra bit of cash to get the new model? The facelift version with the twin exhausts etc. What actually are the differences between the two? Cheers Lee

There are more or less 3 versions of the 3 MPS. All have a 256bhp 2.3 DISI engine. You have: Mk1 Mk1 Aero - comes with lowered Eiback springs and dinky wing mirrors. There is a facelift too around 2008-2009 which has probably the nicest interior of any 3 MPS Mk2 from late 2009 onwards has a new chassis and some changes to the engine. High points are stiffer chassis, better damping, wider wheels (7.5j vs 7j on the mk1) and 225/40/18 tyres vs 215/45/18 on the mk1, stiffer springs, more kit, improved turbo seals, different ECU and a lot more kit. Mk1 & Aero will cost less. mk2 is a better drive with more kit but costs more. Some people prefer the looks of the mk1, some the mk2. All can be modified to the nth degree depending on your budget. Mk1 is more expensive on VED, but considering other costs, £200 per year should not sway your decision. What are you after? What kind of driving do you do? Do you like drag or the twisties? Do you do lots of miles? Are you looking to mod & if so what have you done before and what could you be persuaded into? To give you a poke, the MPS with a few well chosen mods will see off any sub 40k hot hatch and many mega powerful saloons and performance cars.

Mk1 / Mk2 The obvious one would be the Tax difference to me. The Mk2 has a slightly different engine for the turbo side of things too afaik Agree that the mk1 facelift is the best interior

I went from a silver focus to a black ibiza both were a right mess about finding in a car park haha. I did however like the Beep from the ibiza when you unlocked it, that came in handy many a time :p

[pokes James for not mentioning it - OP only implied that he was after a 3, didn't actually specifically say ]
