Hey all, just checking in as a newbie on the lookout for a Mazda 6 MPS that I hope to get soon. Hopefully I'll get some joy, what sort of things do I need to be aware of apart from the obvious, do these motors have certain weak points that need to be observed.

Hello welcome to  There isn't much to look for on a six any more than any other Jap turbo. The main weak link is the VVT like on Nissan's and the chain tensioner. Other that just general common sense

Turbo oil seals and VVT actuator/cam chain, let it idle for 15mins and if you get smelly white smoke its new turbo time, if the cam chain rattles badly on startup, or the chain has too much slack it could be new engine time if not fixed, best if you can find one that's already been replaced to save ££s, Great cars love mine, easy to work on and lots of advice on here when they are not all on facebook!
