Hi Guys. I have booked the car in to a local diagnostics specialist who i have used before. The service history is up to date (76 Thous) but i can't see when the plugs were last changed. It's booked in for next Monday. I have realised that when i collected it it had over half a tank of fuel. I asked the owner about what fuel he used and he said ordinary unleaded, super stuff just makes it go faster!!!!! Dont know whether it was just naivety or Bull. Either way it hasn't helped. I'll keep you updated.

What a complete knob, its more fuel efficient using 98/99 ron as specified on the filler cap, you will use more fuel and car the car wont run to its best on 95, why put a lesser fuel in when the car is tuned to run on super  some people baffle me....

Tell me about it. Hopefully it will get diagnosed on Monday. It wont run on anything less than 98 from now on. The last owner didn't have it for very long, said he had just been banned for speeding, but me thinks he's telling porkies and a trader.

That new V-POWER SHELL looks good 99Ron. I' think i'll try some of that.

^^^^^ The fuel does make a genuine difference. I picked up my 6 about 7 months ago and the owner showed me loads of receipts for 98/99 ron fuel (from various stations). It had about 1/3 of a tank when I picked it up and when I stopped for fuel on the road home the station didn't sell premium. I filled up with 95 and went on my merry way, and I reckon within 10 miles the car felt different. Seemed to be missing ever so slightly and was hesitant when planting my right foot. Only ever had shell v-power in it since then except when I stupidly let my wife drive it (and fill it), and I got the same symptoms.

Genuinely hope that's all it is mate. Good luck!

I agree with the above. When I got mine I had to fill up on the way home with non-premium and the fuel economy suffered badly compared to the distance already travelled. I did not immediately notice any performance issues perhaps because I never went WOT as was getting use to the car but it went back to V-power Nitro+ as soon as I returned home.

What plugs are best for these cars? I've heard that NGK iridium/platinum or rather are okay??

Gap them at around 0.7-0.8mm for your car

Update. Garage contacted me today. They think they have found the problem. Two of the plugs have been arcing and damaged the corresponding coils. Plugs ordered but coils from Mazda are £80.00 each. Anyone know where i can get any from? Thanks

why not go to the local eurocarparts or gsf , not online .

I had a coilpack go on my old t sport a few months back , toyota said they wanted about £110 and it had to fly in so a 4day wait .

rang eurocarparts and they had just the one in the country for less , when i got there i hagglled more off .so was about 50 quid less than toyota wanted ,just a thought.

Also i know exactly how you feel about buying a faulty MPS ,im going through it now .

You will be sorted in no time

Collected car today. It has had a new o2 sensor (post cat) coz old one the wiring had been either cut or ripped off???? (the did show it to me so i know it was as described) new set of plugs and although they diagnosed two coils only one turned up. They changed the worse one and said it wasn't missing. Advised me to get the other one which wasn't 100% sorted. Runs 99% now but still slight hesitation but very minor (may just be me). Could be the other coil pack so i am going to go online as recommended by Spamface and get another just to be safe.
I know its probably a silly question but i noticed the coil pack on the link is for a Mazda 3 MPS. I assume they are the same? Once again thanks for the support.
