you say you have seen poor examples ,which ones were these so people can be warned I started another thread titled "Warning!!" in the general section of the 3 MPS part of the forum. O yes so you did .One thing i never did check on mine. They did say it was FSH ,tbh if its missed the 3k im not to bothered but i will kick up a fuss if that is the case. Whilst I agree the car is unlikley to fall apart I do think a missed service reflects badly on the attitude to the car by the previous owner. I also think that it'll cause hassle (and probably take money off the price) come re-sale time. Not to mention, if the worse was to happen, give Mazda an easy out to a warranty claim for a blown engine/turbo. The main reason though is I thought it was cheeky that a Mazda dealer were selling the car as FSH when in fact it wasn't!!

Defo worth a cheeky haggle, especially if it was advertised as FSH by the dealer. Sure it'll all be fine.

Had the car for a week or so now and must say I'm loving it. It is exactly what I hoped it would be; discreet, fun and fast.
Couple of teething issues: 1) Drivers seat is a bit loose. Thought I was going mad but compared it to passenger's seat and it's definintely loose. Booked in with Mazda next Sat.
2)Low battery on one of the keys. A consumable admitedly but I only bought the thing a week ago, so I'm going to cry to mazda to try and get them to replace battery FOC.
3) low tyre/s made the TPMS activate (not a problem really). All 4 tyres were well below pressures though so I'm not sure when the system activates. Not massively bothered as I've always manually checked the tyres on my other cars. Seeing as I'm off to Mazda anyway, any idea how to test if TPMS are performing as they should be?
Very small gripes though really and haven't taken the shine off the experience at all. I have even begun to think it's actually a pretty handsome looking thing as well!

The mk2 IS a very handsome car. Knocks spots off most cars in any car park.

So a few more miles under the belt now and still really pleased with my choice. Can't think of a hot hatch I'd rather be in. Had a few long trips recently and the car just eats up the miles with no fuss at all. Fuel economy has been mid 30s, which, for what it is, is a bit of a brucey bonus. The turbo does run into a brick wall at the top of the rev range but then again it's a trade-off for mid-range and I think a meatier mid-range is preferable for my needs.
Couple of things are on the to-do list: - The dampers seem particularly well judged, but the springs aren't really keeping up. It's particularly noticeable with quick direction changes. BBR do a spring set and I'm sure there are other options as well, so I'll have a look at alternatives. - Nothing to do with the car itself but the tyres are simply awful (Pirelli P-zeros). They seem to work against the car and give you no confidence whatsoever. Sooner they wear out the better. Looking like I've got at least another year of wear on them though :(
