So after what seems like an age looking around (I'm an impulsive buyer!) I've just bought a VR 3 MPS II. Looked at a couple of pretty poor examples and then hit gold up t'North.

Needed a "sensible" family car and having owned an RX8 previously I like the cut of Mazdas jib! Always been one to swim against the tide with my car purchases (also own a Clio V6...) and I hardly ever see any MPSs about, so it was clear from the off that it was the hot hatch for me. The only thing that gets my goat about it is the steering wheel rim - it's like gripping a bloody pepperami! Other than that though it ticks every box.

The car has yet to be delivered by the dealer as they're awaiting the V5 (was previously on a private plate) so they can tax it. Fingers crossed if the DVLA play it'll be delivered this weekend. :)

Coming from a modified B5 RS4 the Mazda's performance feels erm brisk, but I hope to get it handling/going a bit better in the future once the 12 month Mazda warranty has expired. For now I'll enjoy it as Mazda intended.

Welcome along. I know where you're coming from with the steering wheel, it is a bit thin, especially after being used to a chunky steering wheel in my Clio 197. But I like how solid it feels instead.

You'll have to put some pictures on your vee up. Is it a phase 1 or 2?

Link would be pretty useless as the dealer used 'library' pics of an identical VR they had just sold! It's the 10 plate on 14k miles if you want a gander on autotrader though.

Sure the steering wheel will be something I'll get used to but it's certainly an oversight by Mazda I feel!

It's a bit complicated. It's a ph1, but it has the engine and gearbox from the ph2 in it. It's a keeper and the ultimate end game is to run an ITB set-up. Spec list is as long as my arm and it's a very uncompromising steer, certainly compared to the GT feel of the standard cars. I absolutely love the thing to death and I could have bought another MPS with the money spent so far! The below was taken by someone at the last French Car Show I attended and ended up online somehow! The bottom picture is from a recent dyno run when we were playing with the fuelling!

Good luck with the car sounds a nice one..If you get it by Sunday Eve, pop along to the local meet in MK or pop along anyway

I saw that and I was a definite (if the V5 arrived in time) but then I committed to a London meet with the V6Clio.net boys.

Are the MK meets a fairly regular occurence? Be good to have a nose about some other cars to see what can be achieved when you open your wallet a bit :)
