Hello everyone,

This isn't my first post however can now write on this section as i'm now an owner of an MPS. I picked up a nice white Mazda3 Mk1 Aero on Saturday & have to say what a great car it is! I previously had a skoda fabia vrs mk1 however after 2 years of ownership, fancied something with more power.

The MPS is certainly faster than the VRS (much thirstier too) and feels a lot more a of drivers car.

Unfortuntely i'm feeling unlucky as i suspect that the turbo is on it's way out? The reason being is I parked the car up earlier and let it idle for 10 minutes (at running temperature) & could see that there was white smoke coming from the the exhaust. I couldn't smell anything at all & there wasn't a lot of smoke coming out but it was still smoking... Could there be a chance that this condensation rather than a turbo fault?

Thanks,
Daniel

If you only get smoke after extended idle, I would just keep an eye on it by glancing in your rear view mirror in traffic jams. If you see bluish/white smoke, I would try the banjo bolt "cure" first before worrying about a new turbo.
Also, ask for 10w40 or 5w40 oil at your next service because has been known to help and you need fresh oil anyway.

Was the car from Dunstable? I looked at one there which I let sit idling and it displayed the same symptoms.

Edit - ignore that I've just re read it and you said it was white, the one I looked at wasn't.

Hi welcome along! Sounds like condensation to me but you can always get the banjo bolt and change the the oil to 10w 40 as a precaution

Hi Again everyone,

Thank you for the welcome! didn't expect so many replies

Yeah the car is fantastic! Think i was really lucky getting a white one as i think they're hard to come by and to top it off, got the facelift model with the full black seats and piano trim (looks great!). Did a lot of reading up on the faulty VVT system and after going through quite a few cars chassis numbers (via HPI), this was the only one within budget that wasn't affected... Driven the car for a fair few miles already and it's scary how quick the fuel gauge can drop (guess thats because i had a diesel car before). Does anyone have an MPS and do a lot of traffic driving? would just be curious what to expect on the fuel consumption. I did get to 36MPG on the motorway after picking the car up which i was pleased with

To be fair, i'm most probably being a bit paranoid as i tend to be like that with cars. A bit later that day i did another check and left the car idling for exactly 10 minutes and no smoke so i could be lucky. The car just had a major service before i bought it and was told the oil it had been using is fully syn 5w30 a3 b3 b4.

I'm using 5w30 shell oil with a second decat. No smoke from my tubby at the moment. If your really that worried get the banjo bolt fitted and change oil to either 5w40 or 10w40

Welcome to the site. The MPS do seem to create a lot of condensation from the exhaust I've found. My mk II does anyway.
