Hey people,

I ordered my brand spanking new 3 MPS on the 14th April, and received it 4 months later on the 13th August!!

It was well worth the wait. I spent a lot of those 4 months trawling through posts on here and found it very informative and frustrating as i couldn't wait to get my hands on mine.

So here i am now, and as with most MPS owners I can't wait to start tuning and playing. I may have to throw caution to the wind (and the warranty) as I have fallen in love with a lot of the SURE kit that Total MPS sells.

Just wondering if anyone thinks I'd be crazy to start pulling bits off a brand new 3 MPS?? It's done 450 miles...

Cheers.

Mod now you won't need a warranty and you can always unmod for service.

So, most annoying thing so far is lack of guts in 1st. I'm guessing this is due to over intrusive traction control and ECU junk that's restricting power. Of course it's nice that it's saving my tires a bit, but getting beat off the lights by Mondeo Diesels is getting annoying. Of course overtaking them and spinning the wheels when i get to 2nd is pretty funny.. but still.

Are there ECU tunes that Mazda won't notice/freak out about?? Or is that a one way ticket to warranty dismissal??

PS, i guess i should move into 3 MPS like questions posts soon.. ??

Yeah, first service is due at 3000 miles, so will save and buy mods, then go to town on it after that. Mazda servicing was included for 3 years with my package so will be lots of on and off with SRI and TIPs haha but at least i'll get chance to keep an eye on everything.

Yeah to be honest not worth modding till you are totally used to the car. Once you have had it sideways a few times and you learn its limits then look carefully at upgrades and the path you want.
Remember is it a daily driver. Who else will drive it. What noise level is acceptable. How much bhp are you looking to achieve etc etc etc.

Most do Sri / tip / 2nd decat /hpfp and remap custom or cobb.
We don't have a stage 1/2/3 but if we did then this would largely be what is recognised as a stage 1 tune for the mps and raises bhp to around 300 and torque around 300/330. This also removes any restrictions placed in the fuelling removing limiters in 1st 2nd and 3rd.

This selection of mods makes the car very aggressive and very powerful and takes the car from hot hatch to a very different animal.

You don't have to have the stage 1 to free the car up as a decent map specialist can take a standard car to 280bhp as it stands removing fuelling limiters with no mods.
So while in warranty you could map and even unmap your car using a tool called cobb.
You will need some basic knowledge to get the tune right but their are people here who will help.
I like the custom tune and take mine for a tweak when I add major components.

There are many threads on mapping here and its worth spending some time deciding what you want and remember its a new car so worth playing safer I think to begin maybe decat and Sri

The stage 2 if I can again call it that would be
Sri / tip / 2nd decat / hpfp / DP / Fmic or Tmic upgrade / Re circ.
this will then see torque up to 360/390 and bhp between 330bhp and 350bhp
The torque and bhp are variables and depend on how aggressive your tune is and a few other variables involving strong waste gate and type of fuel plugs etc etc.

Stage 3 again if you want to call it that would be widely accepted that you need upgraded turbo and internals and much more research needed to do safely. ( I'm not their yet lol )

Stage 1 will cost you around £1100 ish with cobb or custom map and stage 2 another £500 and prob £130 fitting costs DP also if you decide you will be going stage 3 then its advisable looking at a fmic and that's another 300 or so.

So lots of options lol
