Hello all,

The "what will I buy next?" time has arrived. My 330d is going on Tuesday so I must buy something else pretty soon. Mazda 6 MPS is in the lead followed by Saab 9-3 aero then Golf GTi. I'm not really interested in which one is faster than that one scenario, I just want a nice comfy car with some decent poke when required. I've had a remapped focus ST so was looking for something with similar performance but much more comfortable for commuting. Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks, Gary

welcome to the forum.

Mazda 6 all the way and more bang for your buck. any that you look at just listen for anything ticking noise to the left of the engine as you look at it, probably VVT issue. also let it idle for 10mins to see if any white/blue smoke appears from the exhaust, worn turbo seals allows it burn oil

The 6 MPS will get the power down way better than the other options. Your biggest problem will finding one if you haven`t spotted one already. The tuning scene is way better these days, if you want to go down that route, although extreme care needs to taken over custom tunes. For best advice there is lot of experience on here.
Best of luck.

Hi & :welcome:

6MPS all the way from those options. Your probably going to hear that answer everytime coming onto the owners club forums but anyone but a Golf or Saab should say the same!

Hello and :welcome:

That one looks good - certainly worry finding out more info on it
Due tax next month @ £460 I think as its a late 55 plate... You'll need to check for sure however.
Says just got 4 new tyres - worth asking what ones they went for as you don't want cheap crap on it.
Usual things to be aware of - cold start VVT rumble and smokey turbo especially.

Look for early signs of rust where rear plastic bumper meets the arch / this seems most common spot on the 6's.

Road tax will be £270 as a 2005 car. Sounds like a good one at that price. Even if you needed to spend some money on it, it would still be good. The turbo smoke issue could be a £15 fix or a recon turbo costing hundreds, depending on how bad it is.

Thanks guys.....I also quite fancy the 3 MPS after seeing the one for sale on eBay that I posted above. Same colour as the 6 but slightly newer.

Get a MK2 3 MPS it looks the best. Not that I'm biased
