Hi all

I'm picking up a 58-plate cosmic blue MPS this afternoon - can't wait! I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? I won't be screwing it everywhere and will let it warm up before I do give it the beans....

What oil do I need by the way? I'm generally doing under 10 mile journeys with the odd long one chucked in - is 5w30 fully synthetic the best for this?

Many of us use various oils for for different reasons, mainly because we prefer a brand etc
But 5w30 or 5w40 will be fine.

Many, including myself, use 5w40 just to try and help the turbo seals as these can fail, not often but also not uncommon.

Great, thanks. The reason I was asking was I'd seen in another thread that 5w30 was more suitable for shorter journeys - I'm assuming it's viscosity is a bit higher so it warms up quicker?

Also if anyone knows how I can get a USB charger and a bluetooth adapter wired in, preferably without dangling wires, I'd be very interested to give it a go. Cheers

I have an xcarlink and its ace, bluetooth and can operate the audio and mp3s still via the steering wheel

It's a Samsung Galaxy S2. I'd just need a micro-usb charger (would work for my tablet as well) for that though.

I've seen the xcarlink's on my travels - are they a pain to fit or is it straightforward enough? I've fitted head units before so I'm ok if I've got the correct tools!

The stereo is simple to remove. The trim strip above the glove box pulls off to reveal two screws holding the stereo.

Remove these, slide out the stereo, plug in the xcarlink, and your done. Then just route the cables whereever you want.

So I picked the car up this afternoon and after a steady drive home (throwing down rain, rush hour) I've been out for a blast tonight. Absolutely love it! The pull in 3rd and 4th is awesome, much better than I remember from the test drive.

One thing is bothering me though - the driver's seat height adjust doesn't seem to be working and it seems stuck quite high up, resulting in back pain already - is there an easy way to release this or is it a bodge job? I doubt it's covered by Mazda's aftermarket warranty.

No plans for any mods yet, if I do though they won't be on the exterior, I really love the look of this thing.

Welcome I'd be inclined to advise the dealer and ask them when they can have it in to rectify. I wouldn't ask if they can do it, make them think you assume it'll be included in the warranty. I'd say there's no reason why it shouldn't be. It might not be a major problem, but for you it sounds like it's quite an issue and should be sorted FOC.

hi, welcome. 58 plate. is it the face lift, shadow chrome whells piano black on the dash white needles in the dials and so on. you may have a very very rare car if you do.
