I've been lurking in the shadows of this forum for several months now as I wanted to increase my knowledge of the MPS. I'm off to view a mk1 3 MPS tomorrow as I want to replace my Accord Type R. I fancied the MPS as I miss the torque of a turbo (I used to have a scooby). I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the wealth of information on this site. It's been really helpful. Hopefully if the car is right I'll become a more active member of the forum - everyone seems like a nice bunch judging by the posts. I'll let you know how I get on.

I have noticed that some dealers are selling some ropey examples at top prices. There are some lovely 3MPS out there. It is just a question of perseverance.

I've been to see it and decided to go for it. It's a late 2008 with the black interior, nearly imaculate condition as the current owner loves his car maintenance. I did all the tests you guys advised (no smokey turbo, no rattles on start up etc.). The current owner was part of the forum a while ago but he's not been on here for a while - he seems like a genuine guy (I prefer to buy private than from a dealer). I pick it up Monday. Only mods on the cards will be a hypertec and a K&N typoon (more for the sound than anything else). Thanks again for all your advice.

Congratulations and the best of luck. It is good to get the measure of the previous owner if you can.

Yes, It's had two owners including the seller, the 1st was his brother who works for Mazda in Norfolk. He's has it serviced with his brother for a discount so I feel it's been in good hands. It was nice to feel the torque on the test drive after my Type R's pretty lame Torqe figure. I don't think I'll miss the high reving Honda, maybe the sound and the seats but I always loved turbo cars...
