Hi, everyone I'm new to the forum and I've just purchased my first 3 MPS. I was wondering if anyone could help me answer a question? The MPS that I have bought is a 2009 car with 11,000 miles on it, it is the mk1 version and is registered as an aero sport. However, it doesn't have the bigger rear spoiler or different wing mirrors? I phoned the dealer where I bought the car and he informed me that it was definately an aero sport but that the previous owner (who was the first owner) didn't want the bigger spoiler and different mirrors as he preferred the original ones? I asked him did this mean that the upgraded suspension would remain the same? To which he replied "The aero sports package is simply a styling option, no mechanical parts are changed". Now I know thats not true. Can anyone tell me if this could be plausible? Thanks, Rick.

now from 2009 they all should of been aeros, it wasnt an option. it should of come with differant spoiler, mirrors and lowered on eibachs. but some none aeros did slip through the net but still say aero on the log book. get you head under the back of the car abd see if your springs are blue or not.
out of curiosity are your speedo dials orange number with and orange needle or orange numbers with a white need.
The dealer is telling you crap buy the way

Thanks for the info, the needles on the speedo are orange with orange numbers, I can't check the springs as the car is still with the dealer as I only bought it on saturday and left a deposit. I'll hopefully collect the car on Thursday. I had thought of asking for more money off the car as I am quite diss appointed that the spolier and wing mirrors aren't the aero ones on my car? What do you think?

i don't think you are alone in owning an aero without the aero rear spoiler, seems there are a few around. as long as you get a good deal and are happy with the car then don't worry so much... the mirrors are crap anyway, lol.. and you could always get a new rear spoiler if you want one.

yeah but i bet your paying facelift aero money and it isnt. the 2009 facelift had white needles in the dials, black alcantra seats, piano black trim on the bash and door cards, shadow chrome wheels. you might aswell just pay 5-6k and buy a non aero model. if iwas buying and o9 i would want the everything that came with it. that car you buying to me is an early car registered late.

Thanks for all the info guys it's appreciated. If you go to http://www.usedcarsni.com/91198642 you can view the original ad for the car. It's advertised for 9995but I shook on 8,995? The car is absolutely spotless, it really is like a new car, it's barely been driven. I got the impression that it was previously owned by someone who really wanted a very discreet car , but with the power you'd expect from an MPS. In terms of spec levels and slightly different trim etc, I would agree that the car seems like its a late registered 06/07 model as opposed to an 09? My real issue is whether it's a genuine aero or not? I mean that's what it's advertised as, and when I insured it today the girl at the insurance company was able to tell me that it was an aero just by imputing the reg into their database? If it has the eibach springs and dampers, I can get the spoiler and mirrors later, but if it doesn't have the springs and dampers then theres no way it could be an aero. Right?

The Aero Spoiler uses two less fixing points than the standard spoiler. To fit the spoiler you have would mean that the mounting points would have had to be cut off the spoiler, or new holes drilled in the boot lid.
You could take off the spoiler to check if you really wanted.
The problem is if they did drill the hatch, and you do want an aero spoiler, you will have to fill two holes that will be on show.

It was only the springs that were changed mate not the dampers It's hard to say by the picture but the first one looks like it has been lowered as if I remember correctly it's 25mm drop at front and 15mm drop at the rear. You will be looking to pay anything from £50-£300 odd for the mirrors and I'm sure I've read the spoiler will set you back £400+ and leaves 2 holes from where the old one fits in your roof which you will need to fill in or live with as Ross has mentioned, so if you paid full price for the lot and got a paint job and fitting costs if you weren't up to it might be £800 odd, but if you got second hand and fitted yourself etc you could be talking £300 for the lot....hard to say. Personally I think the car is a little overpriced and if you wanted the spoiler which I'm sure you would you should tell the garage to fit one for you. End of the day if your happy with the car and it's what you want then that's all that matters mate Oh and

Really? I didn't realise that it was that much hassle to fit? I presumed that it would pretty much be a direct figment from one to the other? Don't get me wrong, I didn't buy the car because I didn't like it. Up close and in person the car looks great, and the photographs don't really do it justice. I just thought that a couple of tweaks like the spoiler and mirrors might lift it slightly? I had a civic type r (EP3) and a focus ST previous to this car and the big rear wing just seems to be a trademark of a hot hatch? Alternatively, the way it is at the moment in my opinion just makes it the ultimate sleeper car.

I'm just not sure what to do. I've driven the car and loved it, I loved the look of it when I viewed it and I've agreed to buy it and left a deposit. Yes there are other MPS's out there, but I've never seen a mk1 as close to brand new as this one is. I'd love the aero spolier, I could live without the mirrors, I just don't want to be in the position where I buy the car and every time I look at it I regret the fact that I didn't get one with the full aero kit. Does anyone know of any company selling nice exterior upgrades for the mk1?

If you have driven it and are happy that it's a good low mileage example with no issues then IMO this out ways the aero side of things. Yes there is work in adding the rear spoiler but it can be done and the springs are a doddle if they need doing. May be slightly overpriced but then I expect most of us have paid more than we should for cars in the past -I know I have.

There really isnt much out there styling wise. DG Motorsports do a couple bits, and Gunther at XO Power/Total MPS will be stocking them.
With 9k, i think you have the pick of the crop with MK1's. Yes that one has low miles, but if your heart isnt in it, then you will regret it.
