Dealers in the UK are all rubbish tbh. They never get back to you or seem bothered by anything. My dad was telling me how bad BMW are & Renault weren't much good either. So far my Mazda dealer visits haven't been too bad.

Variation is enormous. Years ago I wanted a new BMW. One dealer just wasn't interested in selling at all. The other 15 miles away treated me like royalty. Like everything else, we need to shop around.

Yes, shopping around does seem to be key to getting anything these days. Take car insurance, your loyalty is no longer worth anything, all they want to do is steal your custom from another company. Same with mobile phone contracts, you always get a better deal by starting again.

Shopping around for pretty much anything these days is the norm

ok i have to stand up for Mazda dealers on this one...brought my car from Mazda in southampton and i have to say they were the best dealer ship i have dealt with (have dealt with a few and most r crap!) their customer service was excellent it was that good i even sent a letter to Mazda head office to say how good their were....usually write complaint letters lol

My car is going in for its first service soon so we will see what the service dept is like...when i called them yesterday to book it in their all remember my car (probably cause i only brought it two months ago lol) but were extrememly polite and helpful.

so to end there are some good dealerships out there but the bad outway the good i think which is unfortunate.

Need to be careful talking about dealerships because the difference between sales and service can be enormous especially when the sales manager doesn't get on with the service manager. Also some sales depts are very glittzy but the service depts are awful. Best dealership I have ever come across was a small new car place where the "garage foreman", remember them, was the owner and the salesman.

I would never return to my dealer (Vospers in Exeter), they failed to return calls, resulting in wasted trips. They lied, and they damaged the car between when I bought it and when I went to pick it up (two big dents in the drivers door panel) and hid it when I went to pick it up GRRR.

However I couldn't fault the first mazda dealer I used (Central Garages Torbay). Excellent aftersales support, and their body shop in Brixham is great. Just hope their mechanical/engine department is as good, as my baby's in there now due to a clunky gearbox.

Not sure I'm allowed to mention names on this site, but will be happy to edit if needed. :D
