Hello!

I'm on the verge of stepping up from my Mazda 323F Sport to a 3MPS (Mk1, red). I test drove one last week and instantly liked it even though I love my 323F (sadly getting a bit long in the tooth now, rusty arches etc). I'm also sold on some of the amazing examples you guys drive. I'll be stretching my budget for this but I feel like treating myself but it means I wont be modding anytime soon - so ideally I want to re-use my 323's wheels, a set of 17x8 et42 Lenso D1R's with 215/40 Paradas.

I realise the diameter and circumference difference is fairly huge (7.2% according to http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp, assuming the stock tyres are 215/45/18?). Increasing the arch gap and adding 7% to the cars mileage for nothing doesnt exactly sit well with me so I'm torn between fitting something like 235/45 (would probably rub with the extra offset and width?) or just flogging them (only on for 1 summer, mint, no kerbing) and investing in 18"s.

Does anyone have any experience with 17" on their MPS? And what size tyre did you opt for? Photos would be awesome.

Also, if anyone has any experience with fitting an iPod adapter I'd be interested to know which one (I miss DIN slots).

My 323F :

Thanks!
~Steven

nice car

for the ipod you will need an xcar link which just plugs into the back of the stereo.

Not sure anyone has gone down to 17's but hopefully someone can give you some advice.

Its the same one I test drove last week. Mk.1 Aero in Red, 29k miles, no mods, not sure what else I can say as you guys know the MPS inside out. I'll get photos up asap :)

On a side note, felt utterly scammed by insurance comanies today. Back in Feb when I first thought about an MPS my best quote from one of the bigger insurers (Admiral) was £750. To start policy today, no change in details, again Admiral come out best - £1070, . Set policy to start tomorrow £1010. Next mnday £940. Two mondays from now £860. I am fairly certain there is no manual labour involved in processing an online quote/policy, nor is there a premium for a "rush order"... they were plain and simply taking advantage of me needing insurance the same day. Tw*ts. Ending up taking an £800 no name company (quotemehappy.com) policy that Meerkat luckily threw up.

A quick look over the dash and read through the manual and there doesn't appear to be an MPG display (mpg, range, current fuel usage)? Had this in the 323 and just assumed it would be present in the 3 - unless Mazda don't want me to cry over economy - which I won't but I'm a sucker for numbers and would like to know what I'm getting round town, on a long drive and when I'm on my own personal racetrack, without having to do the calculations myself ;)

there is one, its on the stereo console under 'Info', press and hold this and it comes with the current MPG where the clock display was, then press the 'Info' button and it goes through, actual MPG, average, average speed etc

when i first got mine i dint think there was one and took me a while to find it
