Hello all, I'm finally taking the plunge and getting rid of my trusty old golf GTi turbo that I've had for 6 years, pick up 2007 Mps 3 black sometime this week, always wanted one and not follow the rest of the rat pack hot hatch crew, I'm a HGV recovery mechanic and I love getting in about my cars but I've never had a Mazda or had any dealings with them so is there anything I should be wary of or look our for ?
Bit of a Motorsport geek (mainly stock cars) but I'm also at knockhill all the time, looking forward to showing off my new beast and convert a few people,
Cheers Fae Deek

Hello & :welcome: along, great choice

The forum has plenty helpful advice and helpful members. I don't know much under the bonnet but I do know that the MPS engine is not as straight forward as some garages think. Been 1 or 2 stories of tuners tuning them incorrectly then you get zoom zoom boom. So just be sure to only trust people with the experience

Main things to point out would be to check the turbo (idle for 10 mins with no smoke = good) and might want to look into the VVT issues that a very small amount of people have had, 5 or so?
Have a search on the forum, and enjoy  (remember everyone points out the bad bits, including me )

I would read up as much as possible. Even the turbo smoke may not be a problem as some have cured it with a change to 5w40 fully synth oil. It depends how far the turbo seals are damaged. Others have solved the problem with a modified banjo bolt from Japan which costs about £15 delivered. Obviously I would get the seller to pay for the Mazda fix which costs a few hundred.
But really, the MPS is a very reliable car (like all genuine Japanese cars) so I would expect far less drama than average.

Well I picked the motor up yesterday, happy is an understatement, the torque is just unreal and gets the power down a lot better than I though it would, but even normal 'boring' driving it's a joy, pass and rear windows not working were the only problem but this forum had the answer so sorted now, looking forward to showing her off now
