Hi there, I've just bought myself a good condition 6 MPS for next to nothing, but the catch is that the engine has just thrown a rod through the bottom of the block/sump . It seems to be a great car, and I've taken it on as a bit of a project in need of a replacement engine. Can anyone point me in the right direction for where best I might source such an item? I've looked on ebay, but nothing yet. Just to make it clear also, would a 3 MPS mk1 or mk2 engine be a direct swap to drop onto the AWD 6 gearbox? Great site here folks .

Thanks for the welcome. I'm just looking to get it back to a working standard engine without the hole in the block/sump, then take things from there. I've been quoted a price of £600-700 by my local agrage to do the engine out-in, but wondered how much I could get a used engine for and how hard will it be to get a hold of one?

Hello & Big respect for you...seen a few rebuilds and if I remember correctly a couple of issues too. Make sure you take it to someone who knows the MPS engine
