Hello everyone, I bought a black mk2 3 MPS around 2 months ago. Read a good chunk of the forums, already learned a few things, thanks I plan on keeping it mostly stock, remove resonator for a bit more sound and buy a used hypertech if I come across one, mainly for better response and removing 1,2 gear limitation. The car is plenty quick for me and it's my daily, so I'd rather pay for fuel and go for a nice out of town drive than go mods crazy.

Welcome to the forum mate!
Personally I wouldn't waste my money on a hypertech gobby but that's just me. Cobb or versa ftw.

Thanks for such a warm welcome I'll post some pics once I have a chance to take them, the weather is quite shitty atm. Nothing fancy though, bone stock black mica. As for the hypertech, I know it's not great, but for a used unit it's worth the money the way I see it. From what I've read throttle response should get way better, boost come earlier and power last till the redline. That's what I want really, as currently the car drives like nothing happening -> massive pull from 3k to 5k rpm -> need to change gear. Response is also not that great, even taking into consideration that it's a turbo, not a NA engine. Around +20 hp is added benefit, plus I won't have to upgrade hpfp, which is quite expensive for something that brings no performance gains.

while it's true that just installing an uprated HPFP won't instantly give extra horses or torques. It unlocks the delivery of a great many horses and torques when you install the other mods.

Never assume especially with a mK2 , They have been know to be inadequate even for a stock car . Yes i know its expensive but you can get a cobb and hpfp for under 500 delivered from the US. If you want to rev to the redline without the drastic drop of power at 5500 you will need breathing mods to get that . Ive been there done it , so was everyone else that said they would be happy with stock. if the hypertech is anything like the cobb stage 1 , the difference wont be that much different especially without an intake and 2nd decat . Personally i thought the standard map and my custom catback and corksport performed just fine. Although even with those minimal mods the hpfp was on the border .
