I think I am comfortable with 2.6 load..... may add meth injection like yourself to help cool / clean things a bit before venturing into silly load numbers.

In my case I have set 2.6 as the load limit for fuel cut. When it's really cold, I might change it to 2.7, bt the stock engine starts getting really stressed around 2.6.
So unless you are going for a forged block, I would keep the loàd limits at 2.6, and make more power via aggressive timing.

Reading this thread and about the blokes who have killed their engines has made me think a little more as to think I have done the right thing by buying one of these. Are these mills really that fragile? I know now that my turbo is creamed and will that let go and destroy my engine if I dont get it sorted soon?
I cant believe this fella has scrapped a car because of the engine. Are the parts to repair that hard to come by?
J.

LOL, Voo how much would be the minimum I could possibly pay for a 2nd hand engine and also for the engine swap and teething bits & bobs to get running 100%???

Answer me that and I'll tell you if I made the correct decision to scrap the car. All joking aside, my rough calculations were just that, so would be very interested to know real sensible money figures involved for the parts & work.

Cheers, Phil.

why you started a new profile anyhow voo??

Phil, did your engine fail/blow start from the vvt ticking problem??

Not so far as I'm aware Kendo. The engine sounded sweet, nothing untoward soundswise or from my data logging whatsoever.

Voo, or anyone. Please humour me with your best guestimate at how much I would have needed to shell out to replace my engine please.

I'm guessing, Engine from written off mps and then a re-build £3000-£4000???

I have ticking from my engine, (mps6dave pointed it out to me when we met, as i thought it was normal due to the 2.3 being noisy but mps6dave's was far quieter than mine) though the sound doesn't seem to be coming from the vvt (but near it) also my clutch doesn't vibrate and when i took a look at the vvt it was solid, no play in it etc so I'm a wee bit puzzled, could be the chain, or even the belt, also there is a chance it's the wrong oil too, don't want to take it to Mazda yet as they'll rob me blind. Putting fresh 5w-40 in tomorrow.

I'm not taking the piss but I have just read Kendo's answer and can see why you scrapped it : eek2 : 3-4K for an engine!!!! I thought these were Ford galaxy mills? They cant cost that much......can they??

Kendo,I have logged in under a different alias as I cannot log in in my real name(something about MPS wheels and contact the admin, which is what I'll have to do)

Gutted Phil...sad to hear mate.

I have a bill here for £1200.00 to replace the T/chain and pullies.
