In this world there are good noises and bad noises. Good noises like a Song Thrush welcoming the dawn of a new day, the angelic harmonies of children laughing, your girlfriend saying "Yes" to that thing you've always wanted to try but didn't think she'd ever do. Bad noises like police sirens after a bit of spirited driving, politicians speaking and the sound of the bottom end of an MZR Disi engine destroying itself. Yes, my problem is terminal and a new engine is required. "Hello, is that the Samaritans..."

How much did you pay?
If cheap enough you could still be winning even if new engine required.......
(it would have to have been really cheap though)
Are you giving up or going for it?

I paid well under the odds so there is a bit of leeway for a reconditioned or second hand engine and a bit left over to go towards labour costs. I'm definitely going to get it done, it just looks so good and I want a chance to have some time with it. I sat in it today and went "Brooom, swish, brooom, swish" as I played with the gears and it felt so nice. I'm not going to give up on it, it's just too good a car to walk away from. Feel free to throw this message back in my face in a couple of months time when my credit cards are maxed, my bank manager is sending the heavies round and the car is still sitting at my mechanic's.

Just a quick update on this. I'd ordered a re-conditioned engine from Eurojap and there's been a bit of a delay. It turns out that they'd been preparing the engine and then spotted a hairline crack in the crank They've been trying to source a replacement for a few days without any luck (short of getting it from the States). I've agreed that I'll get my engine sent down to them so that they can strip it and re-condition my crank to put into the new engine. They also volunteered to knock something off the price to compensate for the delay. Which is always welcome So a step forward, I'm hopeful that I might actually get to drive my car by September

Pity you picked a bad un hopefully the recon engine will be ok and you,ll realise just how good the car can be and wonder why you never found out about the 6 before!!

A wee update on the latest situation. The reconditioned engine was being prepared when they identified a hairline fracture in the gubbins (sorry if I'm getting too technical for any of you). It turned out mine was in an even worse state after I had my engine removed and sent down. Have had to wait while they source a part from the States. The good news it's all moving again, the recon engine had been rebuilt with the new part and will be delivered early next week, then all I need is my mechanic to find some time in his diary to put everything back together. Fingers crossed I'll actually be able to drive the car in a fortnight or so. I'll need to run it in then I'll be able to find out what all you guys are talking about Here's hoping that I actually like it.
