Hello people, I'm from West Yorkshire, new here, and generally new to Mazda's. I'm into my Honda's having previously owned an EP3 Some of you will know me from CTRO/Civiclife/TRO/ITR-dc2 forums I sold my Civic Type R in December last year because insurance renewal came out at £3600! It seems to have become slightly more stable and at a reasonable cost so I'm back in the hunt for a hot-hatch again. Been looking at EP3's again but the 3MPS appears to be a strong contender! What's the 3MPS like for insurance? I'm 23(24 in september) with an SP30 & LC20 Will have a nosey around the whole forum, hope to find some gems in the For Sale Section! Also, hoping to find a Buyers Guide here somewhere as I've never owned a mazda, or even a turbo! Here's a couple of pics of my old car Thanks!

Its not so much the insurance for the type of cars but the insurer on a whole.i did a couple of online quotes as my insurance is due in the next couple of months and every where seems to have put there prices up as im looking at £490 this year as to £420 last year which is a joke.nice civic and welcome mate.

Thanks mate £490 :O In feb I paid £1200 for my 1.6 Astra with 2 named drivers. The joys of living in a WF17 postcode. I think anything between £1000-2000 in this area for a hot-hatch I think would be deemed reasonable. I know that's absolutely crazy, I'd never pay those stupid amounts but £1200 for a 1.6, so it makes sense to pay slightly more and get a decent car.

Who knows, might not like the turbo kick as opposed to VTEC, hoping to go and take a few for a drive in the next few weeks. I'm not liking the look of the MK2 so I think i'll be looking for an earlier model

Just come from an EP3 to MK1 3 MPS myself. Although I did love the EP3, the power delivery of the MPS makes it so effortless. Pretty much any gear, put your foot down and gone. Now when you're in the mood for a good blast I don't think you can beat an EP3 for pure driver enjoyment, the MPS has got it beaten in a straight line, and in Aero guise, isn't that far behind on the bends, but lacks that junior btcc feel an EP3 on the edge gives. As an everyday car the MPS is miles ahead. It's a much quieter and comfortable place to be, and the level of standard features is impressive. Overall, I don't think you'd be disappointed if you do come to MPS ownership

Overall, I don't think you'd be disappointed if you do come to MPS ownership Fantastic mate, just what I needed, a direct comparison with the EP3. I think the EP3 is one of the best hatches for driver involvement and pure excitement. I miss just ragging the hell out of the engine and hearing that glorious VTEC scream. I'm unsure as to whether I prefer the better power delivery, or whether I prefer to downshift and go. I know the EP3 is more exciting, but my work commute is only 9 miles and I hardly get any decent roads to play about with round here, so sometimes it can get tiring. I'm not planning on tracking the car anytime soon so I reckon the MPS with Aero Pack would suit me fine. Great welcome so far, keep the comparison's and any MPS info coming!

Working in Leeds now, although don't recall seeing any at all around here. Although I did see a mint white mk1 in Dewsbury with a private plate on last week. £950 for insurance? I'd bite arms off for that price! Where abouts are you from then mate? Is there any specific Buyers Guide for the MPS? I'm gonna have a good browse around the forum when I'm home from work this evening.

Constrast to downshifting all the time, which dont get me wrong I miss, but for my daily commute I reckon the mazda's power delivery may be more ideal. Haha yes, I sat in my mates Fabia VRS recently and was blown away as to how much torque that thing has!
