Hi all. Thought i would join here as i am picking up a 2010 black 3 MPS this Saturday. First time for me for mazda ownership. Ive mainly been a Honda owner and have had 2 integras, 2 Accord R's, 2 vti civics, 18 preludes, a an S14a 200sx and a saab 9-5 Aero. Currently own a track prepped 4th gen prelude making 260-270bhp but she i being put to bed for winter, hence buying the mps. Looking forward to finding out more on the forum and using the search function. Ill put up a profile once i collect the car. See you all around. Dino

Here she is... Very happy with her and only 27k on tge clock. Car has a corksport cat-back exhaust and corksport airbox. Looking to get a bit more power from her but to do it safely and reluably. Ive seen the cobb v3 module and wondered what mods to do and best way to go about doing it. Any help is welcomed

Hi Dino. I have a mk 2 also used as a daily with a few mods. I cover 16k a year and the car has been very reliable. I currently have Autotech fuel pump internals, CPe deltacore TMIC, HTP full intake with TIP, CFM rear motor mount (9 peg army), Bilstein B12 pro kit, whiteline 27mm rarb, whiteline front droplinks, Lemforder rear links. Also have the Cobb AP 3 with AccessTuner Race (tuning software needed for Cobb AP unless you get a pro tune) and am tuned by Justin Heath (djjut on forum). I have not changed downpipe as it’s my daily, and it means beginning of the end for stock turbo if you do usually.
Your mod path with the mk2 should follow this if you want safe power; Autotech internals first before any tuning. Then, consider what your end game is with the car. The best place to talk to people in real time about it is on the Facebook group “The original Mazda MPS group”.
Any problems getting in drop a PM

Cheers Autech and MrMaximusman. Currently have the following mods on her. Corksport intake with TIP Corksport Cat-back exhaust Autech HPFP COBB AP V3 Im running the stage 1+ OTS map but have noticed the odd bit of hesitation at low rpm. Where is the best place to get Access Tuner Race and how much is it? Think a custom tune may work best. Car is my daily so looking to just enjoy the most out of her. Not looking to go mad on the power.
Pics of the prelude coming soon.
Unfortunately dont use Facebooks

Unfortunately dont use Facebooks Hi there You can obtain the Cobb tuning software from their website but they now charge $149 for it and you have to complete a basic online tuning course with tests in order to obtain it. You could always look into a custom tune from a Cobb certified protuner in the USA, such as http://www.Freektune.com for example - you don't need the software to use this service but the tune would be locked and any future tune adjustments would be charged for. Is the hesitation you are experiencing only in the lower gears? It may be the over active SWAS (Steering Wheel Angle Sensor) that basically tells the ECU to dump loads of fuel in to dampen power output if it thinks traction may be an issue. A simple data log would also be an easy way to confirm if this is the case. Hope that helps

I didn't realise you could still get Access Tuner Race from. I have a V3 but no software so it's effectively useless as a tuning device if you're unwilling or unable to pay for a pro Tune. I may have to look into this further and get in touch Justin I fancy doing the downpipe and this makes it a bit more feasible.

Yup its in low gears only...so looks like it is what youre suggesting.
Ill probably stick with the current state of tune.

Decided to put the car on the dyno today to see what she is making. Corksport intake Corksport cat-back exhaust HPFP COBB V3 woth Stage 1+ OTS Map
Made 289bhp at fly with 284lbft torque. 259whp
Happy with results for OTS map.
I did get an ecu code on COBB Code P0172 Fuel system too Rich (Bank 1) & PCM
Can anyone help diagnose?
Long Term FT reads -17.7%. Could this be MAF sensor?
Cheers beforehand

Cheers beforehand Not a bad result at all The OTS tunes are boost based so in hot weather you will find the car makes a fair bit less power than it does when cool out but I'm sure you have room for additional power still on the table. Regarding the EML you have active, this is likely due to needing a MAF calibration completed for the aftermarket intake you have fitted. That code and value means the car is running rich and the car is pulling that % of fuel out to correct the condition during partial throttle operation.

DJJUT... Cheers for the response. Fully expect the car to be slower/less power in warmer weather. Have noticed car feels quicker in cold. Next question about MAF. How/who should i approach about getting it calibrated? Or can i sort mysef? Cheers, Marc

Cheers, Marc I would be happy enough to calibrate your MAF sensor for you, for free of course, but you would need the Cobb tuning software in order to be able to edit the tune tables. The software (Accesstuner) used to be free but Cobb now charge you $149 for it and make you complete an online basic tuning course in order to obtain it. Cheers, Justin
