There's been a number of rumours now about a AWD 3mps runnin around 300bhp but no confirmation from Mazda.
I was speaking to a chap from Mazda who hinted towards a new "performance" model being released...
then the Ltd Ed MX5 Recaro appearred, I think that mightve been what he was referring to :(

I know a guy who works for mazda and the official line is they're "investigating" a new model but it will be built with the skyactiv engine and they won't say what model they will choose but remember guys the new Ford Fiesta St was developed in japan and U.S. together so i reckon if they do make a new 1 it'll be a mazda 2

Just that there won't be one anytime soon, if at all. That's not quite the same thing. But don't be waiting for one though, it could be a very long wait!

Time and time again Seita Kanai and Masamichi Kogai have said there will NOT be anymore MPS models coming out. They've said this to magazines and interviews etc. I don't get why people keep saying there are "rumours" when the horses mouths have spoken.

The RX9 we know is coming, with a turbo or hybrid rotary as well.
But like Spammy says, the main men at Mazda have spoken, no MPS.
The rumours about the new MPS may actually be about the proposed 'sportier' Skyactive models where Mazda are potentially looking at driver focused packages for the Skyactive models (lighter seats, wheels, uprated suspension etc)

Manufacturers are very name sensitive. Mazda will probably have a marketing plan for the next range of MPS type cars which will focus on how new and different they are to anything else. Therefore they will want to disassociate themselves from the MPS because it represents yesterday`s poor selling cars.

Thats's like Nissan dropping Nismo, Merc AMG and BMW M-division.
