Hi
I am just about to join the world of Mazda, never had one before, so a bit of a departure.

Current drives are a Jag XK Convertible (the love of my life) and smart forfour Brabus (Soon to go as really is my spare car, bought as a temp commuting car, but ride too stiff for bumpy A roads, but fun car, so its stuck around for the last 2 years) and the MPS replaces a 4.8 X5 (nightmare of a car).

So it looks as though i am buying a car that was owned by a member, bobster.
Found a few threads on it, but i wondered if anyone can shed any light on the modifications, not sure if previous owner is still active on here.

I have a bit of a phobia of modfied cars, my X5, had various modifications, all done well by previous owners, but caused a few issues, but then the X5 is a bit unreliable on the electrics etc.

Reading a few threads i can see that its had modifications. I know the exhaust was done as it has just had a new MOT and failed on emissions, the garage is resolving this, but it looks as though it has had a few others, not sure why it should have failed, but having had a 350z with a stunning blueflame bespoke exhaust we use to have to swap back to a standard for MOTing, but that was years ago, i thought the newer sports decat exhausts would get through an MOT.

I love the cosmetics mods, but am a bit worried about some of the other mods, can only half read a thread about RS tuning, not sure this car went through this and whether it was resolved? I tried to read the links, but cannot get to them.

No one on this forum is going to lose out, as car is know owned by a garage, but do not want to buy a car with bad mods or unknown ones as i do not want to invalidate my insurance or warranty, any help with the history on the car would be appreciated.

I am looking for a decent fast car, do not need all the mods, been there done that.

Send him a pm. He's still a paid member so should get it. I remember he was getting it tuned by rs but they really struggled to tune the decat downpipe. Dont know whether he gave up on it and sold it or if he got it finished. Either way dont touch it with a barge pole until you hear from him because if its still running the rs tune, its a ticking time bomb

Its having the standard exhaust back on, sounds as though i could be buying a nightmare, can you get a retune removed? Presume by putting the standard back on with a retune for the decat i could be asking for problems.

Never had anything remapped the only car i have ever tracked was my z4m and to be honest that was fast enough as standard. so its a whole new world for me!

Have sent a PM, think i might be asking for my deposit back. Damn shame as it is a stunning car

I know Bob left on the decat downpipe and the RS Tune.

A lot of people use Cobb AccessPort or Versatune for remapping. If you plan on remapping (and you probably should) then you could have this ready as soon as you get the car. The RS tune can be removed.

You may need a bypass valve gasket. What wheels were on the car?

They are black! I have a pic but not worked how to attach on here yet.

Quite worried as they are putting the standard exhaust back on tomorrow, not sure i want them to drive it the 100 odd miles to deliver with the RS tune and the standard exhaust.

I really do not wnat to get into changing bits so might need to look for an alternative car.

If you are worried mate then stay clear or you will be forever listening for ever little bang and you will never stop worrying. Me personally i would not get the exhaust changed and give RS a ring see if they have anymore info on the and get a versa or a cobb then get Justin to Map it. If you are not into changing bits i would wait till a nice standard example comes up for sale.

Problem is its failed its MOT and the garage will not sell without the full MOT, think i am going to have to wait to find another one. just rang them just need to get the deposit back, lets see how i get on with that.

Anyone got one for sale, really wanted red one, no more than 40k ideally, mark II - got upto £13k to spend, maybe more for a real low mileage one.

the all seem to be up north!

I am female shock horror and really cannot do with messing with cars. Spend hours cleaning and detailing, but remaps etc really not my thing.

Should not have said you are female! They are a rare thing here haha.

If you want a standard car, without doing a bit of 'messing about' then I am sure you will find another one with your budget.
