Currently on the search for a mk1 mps in exchange for my piece of French crap clio 197. Found a nice one but have been told they don't come with a service book and have read that on here too. Other than receipts, is there any way to validate work that's been carried out on the car? Thanks Jase

The official service record is all digital as you have been told. A Mazda dealer may verify it, I'm not sure if it would be free or not.

Jase Hi Jase, If you could run a test drive with ELM327 and upload the log here then things will become pretty clear, it will give away any internal underlining issue. Cheers, T

Jase Hi Jase, If you could run a test drive with ELM327 and upload the log here then things will become pretty clear, it will give away any internal underlining issue. Cheers, T Personally I think that's a bit overkill for when looking to buy a new car, expecting someone to run logs, not only does it mean going pretty fast on a test drive, but is also a bit over the top... it's not going to show that much when a lot of the things can be found out just by listening and looking for the right things. This thread is useful for potential issues, give it a read and you'll soon get to know the common issues etc: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=20013Regarding service history, best bet is to get the reg of the car, call up your local Mazda main dealer and say you're looking to buy the car and would like the service history, they should be able to read it out to you over the phone, or print out for you to collect from the garage.

Nice link Silver! I didn't mean a log with a WOT by the way, and don't think it's an overkill though, it will show lots of useful information

If I couldn`t get at the digital service record then a sound set of servicing invoices would keep me sweet.

Wow thanks, you guys are really friendly on here. I decided to walk away from that mps because even though after four days they did come up with some history they couldn't provide any receipts for the missing 30k of history. I mean even if it was done by a private garage there should be some sort of evidence. So I found a nice example with 44k on the clock with full mazda history for the same price hopefully pick it up next week. Sorry for the late reply as I was trying to find a decent car! Next up is finding a decent tuning company.

Next up is finding a decent tuning company. You don't need to find one. Our very own DJJUT (Justin) is responsible for tuning the vast majority of MPSOC cars and is very highly regarded for it... Look at how many user signatures include "JTuned" and you'll see...
