Cheers bud. Was chattin to a guy earlier about his which is fir sale. He said something about the dual mass flywheel making it sluggish on launch, and feels like tc prevents decent start. Not as nice to launch as his old S2000 or wrx, but still great, fun cars. Just wondered if that sounds like a normal scenario, a driver who needs more practice (like me) or something wrong with the car. He described it as being like turbo fuel cutout :/ I've not driven it so can't really comment.

Mine is standard and performs well once you into the higher gears but not so in first and second. Not much boost and the change from first to second is a tad agricultural. If you add drive by wire to the mix, it is not the quickest car off the mark. As I understand it, a remap can sort this problem and would be my first mod of choice.

Evenin all. Sorry to be a pest.

Chatting to a guy from a reasonably local garage on the phone earlier. Has a 6, 88k, no satnav, apparently clean inside and out, standard, not sure on tax, going thru mot rework now (they mot'ed it, failed it on rusty mid pipe so in the shop being replaced and hence not available to view atm).

On an 06 plate with no nav and 88k, in reasonable condition and fsh, how much should I pay? Spoke to a couple of people who's adverts were still active but they'd sold the car and they're going for 3500-4k with maybe 35-50k on them?! Is that just a couple of randomly low.examples or are they really worth that? Meaning over 70k needs to be less than 3500, over 90k is less than 3 grand? Trying to get a decent benchmark.

P.s. I love a bargain and don't mind buying cheap but needs work, just gives me a justified reason to fiddle with it's parts :) based on that, I really don't want to pay top price for something unless it's special.

I like special.

I'm special.

Depends on the condition of the rest of the car.

As its at a garage presumably it has some warranty?

I'd be making sure I had between 500 and 1000 saved up for any nasty surprises on a higher mileage example.

The prices are all over the place mate :(
When I was looking before Xmas I'm sure I was seeing decent looking ones for ~2.5+ then when I actually came to buying they all seemed to be 4k+
Service History and Chain/VVT? That kinda mileage you'll be wanting the chain done soonish I'd expect.
Can he supply you the Reg/Vin? If so you can check to see if Mazda have any Electronic service history, check the tax, and if they will supply you th elast MOT number you can check all the previous MOT's too.

The history on mine is a bit sparse, theres receipts for odd services n stuff but that about it tbh, was a little concerned that with this type of car it wasnt a FSH
I made sure to check thru all the prior MOT's to check for anythign that might be coming up, just the usual discs/pads/tyres/bulbs wo thought I'd disregard the patchy history.
Let the car sit idling for a good 15mins then hoofed it, no smoke so turbo seems decent, while it was idling had a good look around the rest of the car, nothing of great worry other than an annoying crack in the rear bumper :(
06 plate 6 in Velocity Red, higher tax bracket unfortunatley, 76k miles

What sealed the deal for me was a full service in January, new discs and pads, chain VVT done and a receipt for the work to the sum of 1400.
I bought mine from a private seller not a dealer tho
