Hi Chaps,

I currently have a turbo s2000 making 576BHP and a fabia VRS mk1 @ 180BHP, the fabia is great as a cheap run about but its a bit boring and getting long in the tooth, with the S2000 they are a bit understated and thats what attracts me to the MPS 3.

The Mk1 seems pretty resonable value as well i have a few questions if you may (a few I've found out on here but some i havent).

1. I read the Mk2 is sturdy and a little more refined and has been changed externally and interior wise, is it changed engine wise? and can you add parts or mods from the mk2 or at least improve the mk1?

2. What is the limit clutch/engine and turbo wise you can get out of a mk1 with a remap and bolt on's?

3. Lastly with question 2 am i dreaming if i can keep up or at least out pace a focus RS with mods (not from a standing start? i read this isnt the MPS 3 strong point).

4. Why the feck do i keep calling the car an Mp3 LOL.

Cheers

Better pistons, better VVT parts, supposedly better turbo seals (yet to be proven/couple of people trying to disprove!), faster ECU. Most mods are interchangeable from Mk1 - Mk2. Some engine parts even fit from the 6MPS

The clutch and gear box is the most durable part it would seem. 340bhp on stock turbo is gonna be the limit, a good tune should see a safe tune with minimal risk of bending a rod. Start pushing past 360ftlb torque and the rods seem to want to transform into pretzels.

Officially, the MPS is 0.4 seconds slower than the Focus RS 0-60mph, stock v stock.

Yeah mkII got a lot going for it... Regarding turbo seals there are 2 different turbos listed in parts catalogues, one for 2011 onwards... So they maybe tried improving it somehow, hopefully anyway :D

That's s2000 must be some toy

Welcome if you do end up getting a MK2 your first mod should be a fuel pump ;) otherwise you will just be frustrated before long.

Thanks guys.

So with a remap and mods it could be quicker than a focus rs, does the bonnet scoop not help more with heat scope.

How is the Mpg.

Yeah the s2000 engine is standard they have full forged internals so take boost well 5k ish sees this sort of power however the torque is only around 390 lb f,they only weigh 1240kg too so quite light. I haven't had much time to try it against other cars, the only thing I have pushed out of the way of is an audi r8.

Heat soak shouldnt be a issue when the car is moving ,just obviously when your in traffic or on a dyno .

MPG can vary from non exsistent on a weekend to 27.5 mpg if you keep under 3000rpm for 200+ miles like i do in a working week.
