Hi Guys, new to the forum and in search of some advice.

I've always had a soft spot for the 3 MPS but a 6 MPS has come up for sale locally which seems good value! Wouldn't get a 3 for anywhere near the same money from what I've seen!

Anyway, it's a 2007 car with 80k miles. Only modifications seem to be coilovers and one cat removed? Is this a common mod? A guy I work with warned me of issues with the rear diff. What are these? Is there anything major which should have been done by this mileage or anything coming up?

If anyone could answer these questions or point me in the direction of a good buyers guide that would be great.

Thanks

Steven

I would hope the vvt, chain and tensioner had been changed by that mileage. Second cat delete is avery common mod. The rear diff has problems if you run uneven tyres / different brands /sizes from each other

The guy said it's got full service history and only had two owners but I'll check that out!

Tell tale signs the diff is possibly on it's way out? Just listen out for noises or what's best method?

Welcome to the forum mate! As above mate! Vvt - chain I would be expecting to have been done. Also the turbo seals are pants on the 3 & 6 so make sure you heat the car up then let it idle for 10 mins to mine sure there's no excessive smoke coming from the exhaust. If the tyres ain't the same it could cause rear diff problems.

Aslong as the tyres are all the same size, brand and within a couple of mm tread of each other it should be
Ok
