Recently bought a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 MPS to replace my Corsa VXR Will miss the VXR but unfortunately with only 3 doors and a small boot they eventually become impractical Test drove a ST3 Focus, Megane RS & Astra VXR before i settled for the MPS and i think i made the right choice

Well mine was pushing 250bhp stage 3 when i PX'd it so it was no slouch, unfortunately to get any more power out of it forging is essential as the pistons are made of chocolate.
Hence why i wanted to find something of similar power standard. Doesn't mean i wont be modding the MPS though lol

Have a couple of grand set aside for mods.....
First thing will be a decent map, and then exhaust, wheels & suspension, just need to do some more homework on tuners etc
Then i'll probably start tinkering underneath the bonnet eventually

Map after tinkering, you'll need to free up the intake breathing, that's where the restriction is. Only need to change the front pipe for over 300 bhp, the exhaust is free flowing enough. Suspension is fine as is.

Hello and Cobb access port or versatune is the route to go for a map. Also as Jim says, the intake is a big restriction on our cars. But being a mkii it's wise to get HPFP internals 1st as you can soon lose fuel pressure when modding and that leads to very bad things. Look into a rear engine mount too as these make a HUGE difference on a 3. Sorry about your initial forum problems, glad it's now sorted for you. Kenny

Thanks for all the advice, owners club forums are worth their weight in gold when it comes to knowledge so i shall definitely be taking all the input on board.
The best thing about my VXR was the sound of the 3" cobra exhaust so will be looking to replicate that kind of rumble if i can.....

Let us know what your goals are and we'll advice accordingly. You say you'll have roughly £2k to play with?

Yeh, i basically had a bit saved for mods and the rest i made returning my VXR to practically standard Im not looking for crazy bhp, 300 sounds reasonable, new wheels and slightly lower reducing the current arch gap The BOSE system is pretty good but i may look to do something audio wise including possibly replacing the headunit with a touchscreen

Handling REM Eibach springs Rear anti roll bar Power HPFP internals SRI & TIP Cobb Acess port or Versatune TMIC Spark plugs Cat back exhaust (Turbo back exhaust if you want more pops and grunt plus another 30bhp or so) Money has now been spent up. Few will disagree with the above route to take. You can upgrade the recirc valve but it's not really needed to be upgraded untill into higher power
