Also a quick Q, whats the cutoff for the cheaper tax bracket?
I thought it was a 55 plate but I've seen some people selling 06 plates stating its the cheaper tax bracket too.

On or before 22nd March 06, mine was registered on the 16th :) Yes, I bought it on purpose. You won't believe how difficult finding one of only 1000 cars ever registered, for sale, that fell into that 22 day period was.

Hopefully you get one bought soon. Be good to see another 6 kicking about up here, barely any around. Yeah its great having total mps round the corner no need to go anywhere else for the car. Does make spending money on mods far to easy mind.

Mine was registered on the 22nd and bought on the 23rd. Lost a fortune on it over the past 7.5 years though.

Its pretty weird to think that the 06 cars in the high bracket have paid roughly over 3k in road tax over the years until now. When you think some of the new cars may only pay £300 or so in total for their entire life on the road. Saying that we get the fun in our cars.

The Mrs' car is zero VED (no such thing as road tax). Wonder how long the government will let that carry on.

I agree. At some stage the Chancellor will stand up on budget day and say that VED needs to reflect the true contribution to the maintenance bill for the road network and base it on weight. Ariel Atoms will sell like hot cakes.

I'm on anther forum where someone actually calculated the tax that should be paid per year, per vehicle based on axle weight, on the assumption that was the major road wear factor. I can't remember exactly but it was something like - Motorcycles, no denomination small enough to actually pay, cars about 2 quid, articulated lorries 2 million quid.

Should be no road tax. Stick it on fuel instead.
