Hi, Happy Holidays to you all. I'm thinking of buying a 3 MPS, to sample a hot hatch before I get too old! I like the understated presence it has and value for money. I've come across a '07 with 32k for £7250 from a garage. Any thoughts? Regards Chris

Hello and welcome.
Thats a reasonable price, the 6 mps's are cheaper but is a personal preference on style of car.
Does it have FSH? Also, do you have a link to it so we can check it out for you?

The FSH isn't in booklet form with Mazda, its on a computer system, you can ask your local mazda to run a check though I'm sure they'd charge a small fee?
Also if your don't forget to do a HPI check
Looks clean enough mate.
2 things to check for…
1. The turbo, this can be done with a long 10 minute idle, if it smokes with a hint of blue and smells, walk way.
2. VVT, if the left side of the engine produces a slapping noise or loud ticking, leave it and walk.

Spamdo, I agree with advice about vvt and chain noise but not the turbo smoke. Mine has done the turbo smoke trick twice in 2 years. The first time was in a 25 minute traffic snarl up. The second time was when the MOT tester left the engine running to warm it up. This afternoon I got caught in another snarl up for 20 minutes to cover half a mile. No smoke. The only change is that the engine has 10w40 oil instead of 5w30 oil. So even if my did produce smoke after 10 minutes of idle it wouldn`t bother me because I don`t do that in the real world. Obviously I would be concerned if it happened after a few minutes of idle.

Well I've bought one. A blue '09 3MPS Aero with 32k on the clock. Enjoying the extra "shove" when you want it!
