Hi all, I'm Kieran, I'm going to be picking up a red mk2 MPS on Friday and cant wait. I'm upgrading from an 06 petrol 2l 3 sport so its a bit of a step up. I doubt I'll be doing much modding till the remaining years warranty is up apart from maybe a cheeky BBR re-map - depends how strict Mazda are. Has anyone bought the BBR spring/shock upgrades on here? I like the idea of it being softer and a bit more exploitable on the rough bumpy B-Roads around me. Looking forward to being part of the forum!

Welcome to the site. Good luck with the upgrades, but I would wait until the car is out of warranty as free repairs are great. If a component fails and the car is out of warranty you'll have to pay for it anyway, so whilst they're free I'd air on the side of caution! I've just had the turbo changed on mine at 27 months old.

Cheers Guys for the warm welcome ArranS wrote: Welcome to the site. Good luck with the upgrades, but I would wait until the car is out of warranty as free repairs are great. I've got a years unlimited mileage warranty on it so I will probably just keep it stock for then. It's not like its not quick already! Just those re-maps are just soooo tempting!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Picked up my mk2 and its awesome! I had to fill it up on shell 95 as both Shell and BP were out of super and the nearest Tesco was a bit further than I wanted to risk. Am I right that it wont hurt the car it would just retard the timing and not pick up as well? Also is it me or are the OEM Dunlops really noisy on anything less than really smooth tarmac? anyway here's a pic...

I would treat the 95 as "emergency use only". I've heard lots of complaints about the Dunlops, on here. There are better tyres out there. Don't forget to treat the turbo with TLC. Make sure your engine is nice and warm before pushing it, despite the temptation, and let it run on idle for about 1 minute, if you have been pushing it, before switching off. Also, before the warranty expires, warm it up and let it idle for 10 minutes and check for stinky white smoke. Any problems, get it back to Mazda. Sorry if this sounds negative. Just best to be forewarned.

foxy wrote: I would treat the 95 as "emergency use only". ^^ Yeah that, car will love you for filling with V-Power or similar (98 RON minimum as per manual). Standard tyres are crap I'm afraid. I only use them in winter for pottering about. by the way.

Thanks for the advice Foxy I have been letting it warm up for a good 8-10 mins driving it like a granny before really giving it the beans. I would normally fill it up on V-power or Tesco 99 but I was a bit stuck at the time as BP and Shell are the only places near my Mum's that sell Super Unleaded.
The tyres don't have much left on them till they reach the 3mm I like to change my tyres at. I'm looking at the Goodyear Asymmetric 2's or the Hankook V12 EVO's as my friend has them on his Civic Type R and he really likes them.
