Hello all.

Newbie here, joined as Maestro is a good friend of mine and has pointed my way towards an MPS as a possible next car if I can pull it off.

My background is mainly VAG background for the past 8 years of motoring, particularly Skodas, but looking for something of a change now. I fancied the MPS when it was out, and now there are some nice little bargains to be had as long as one can swallow the running costs.

If I can make it happen then hopefully I will become an active member here. If not, well I suppose I can just drool at the members gallery until I can :)

I've spotted a Mazda 6 MPS, 57 plate which is about £6K. I could probably get similar money for my car, or £6.5K if I went and punted it privately. For the sake of £500 I might see if the dealer will do a straight swap.

Currently I have an Octavia 2.0 Diesel DSG. Nice car, but, I dunno, I've had two of these now, and I get bored easily :)

Is there anything I really need to look for in a 6 MPS? I note that 6 MPS are generally cheaper than the 3 MPS, I don't get it.

As long as the previous owner looked after the car, always warmed up the turbo etc (almost impossible to tell)
Alloy wheel corrosion
Potential rust at wheel arch area - where the bumper meets arch (again as long as car cleaned and cared for it will be fine)
Smoking turbo at extended idle - common 'problem'

You can tell alot by the cars appearance, if the previous owner looked after it you should be fine... Great cars :D
