Hi , i have joined the forum as i find them to be very useful.
I used the Alfa Romeo one for 5 years when i had my GTV .
Being an older owner (aged 53 ) and having owned a sucession of classics (in my opinion) i bring with me a wealth of annoying trivia and experiences . Going back wards i owned the gtv , celica series 6 (the 4 headlight one) honda 2.2 prelude, pug 205 1.9 gti, pug 405 Gti , mk11 cavalier, talbot horizon, mk1 escort, Mgb gt, Hilman hunter super - tango orange.
(No need to list all the bikes in a car forum)
Still enough of that , you want to read about the MPS.
Couple of months ago i bought a true red 2006 model . Very neat, tidy and shiney obviously well looked after , which is how it will stay , all main dealer stamped etc, which it wont stay as i do my own servicing and repairs - old school see.
I did some research first and sought out a non-aero version .
Basically because i have had enough of rock hard suspension and the non aero was a little softer in this department .
I drove both models , could not tell the difference while cornering to be honest . Might be able to on a track but on the road not really. Just felt more forgiving over pot holes and cats eyes. Those little mirrors on the aero are not as good in the real world either but they do look better !
Sorry guys but i dont like the looks of the mark 11 -its trying to hard !
I like the subtle looks of mine , i love burning off all the boy racers , i love to see thier faces when a grey haired old git in a mazda leaves them for dead !
I love the way the MPS takes off , brilliant, still giving me a rush , the way it surges forward.
I have been finding different routes to and from work just so i can enjoy being in the car for longer.
Making the most of it before the winter sets in . Will it be any good in the snow i wonder ?
Only complaint to date is the gearchange , first to second is a mare to get right under load ! Others are not too bad if you are concentrating .
All the best for now . nice to meet you .

A new rear engine mount will sort out the gear change, notoriously bad on the 3, but less so on the 6.

Hello & :welcome:

Best bit of owning the Mk1 3 is the nice subtle looks - makes it such a wolf in sheeps clothing. Nothing more fun that blowing things into the weeds that just weren't expecting it :D

Evening Rockey (preferred you in the 4th outing) and welcome.

I too went for the mk1 for it's understated looks but the aero edition as thought the handling was supposed to be more improved...but still a sleeper compared to a lot of performance cars out there.

Enjoy!
