Cobb charges you to get the software, $150 iirc
Versatune updates more often and always first, Cobb then copy versa about 4 month down the line.
Cobb can be resold, versa can't.
Cobb can brick your ecu and can be a tight bitch to sort out, sometimes you have to send your ecu to Cobb in usa.
Versatune has an ecu recovery system.

How's it work obtaining maps. Do have to pay every time I get a map?

Both have downloadable maps that are free which are suitable for most mods. If you have an upgraded turbo fitted then you would need a custom tune.

With versa do you get the device that goes onto the dash the same as cobb.

You don't unfortunately, most of us use a 7" Windows based tablet that can display parameters.
