Good Afternoon. :hats:

I've been spying on this forum for a long time now, mostly waiting to see if anyone was selling a 6MPS, but have found it useful for scaring the crap out myself for buying one cos of all the problems. Still, it's been useful in keeping me away for bangers and helping me know what to look for, so thanks!

Anyway, I've bought a red 6 MPS, 115,000 miles, £2500, which I personally think is pretty good for a car like this. It needs a bit of tlc, rear bushes need doing, rear shocks too, but timing, air con and new radiator all done in Jan so saves me some hassle.

I've spent the last 10 years in diesels so my plans are to spend the first few months at least enjoying it standard, then upgrading where needed

I'll be pestering you all for advise over the next couple of weeks as I try to get it into shape. As well as bushes, there's a small weep on rear dif drive shaft, weep from gearbox/engine mating faces somewhere and front dif sump plug

Small amount of rust forming too, so hoping Mazda will help with that as its full Mazda history with bodywork inspections.

Think that's all. It's great to finally be an MPS owner, just hope it lasts!

:mpsoc:

Will do. They did some work for the previous owner on a different spot which has come back, so hopefully they'll fix that too and do a better job this time

I thought the rust warranty was well gone for us?

Welcome to the forum OP :)

If the rear shocks need doing you may as well go the whole hog ;)
H&Q Springs and a set of Bilsteins will see the car much improved :)

There's a 12 year anti-perforation warranty on um mate. However, to keep it live for the 12 years you have to have a paint check every year with a Mazda dealer.

Perforation is when it rusts through from the back of the panel and effects the other side of the panel. It doesn't have to hole it by the way i.e. if it bubbles up you're covered. Read up on it mate in your warranty book....

Thanks for the advice. Do you all have a recommended supplier, or is it just a 'shop around' job? Cheers.

Welcome fellow new boy!! If you think this site scares owners you should try 11 years on alfaowner think my lowest moment was reading all the horror stories then pulling out at a junction to make a gap and the diff putting a hole in the gearbox and bang goes £1500 of my hard earned cash so started the diff fail club and boy did it have a few members. After 11 years of alfa I'm not easily scared but wow what a car the 6mps is
