Hi guys. My Left rear Brake light and tail light have started playing up. Most of the time when I push the pedal the Brake light just flashes and goes out and the rear driving light, which I think must be the same LED doesn't work either. Took it down to the garage tonight and of course it functioned perfectly. Got it home not working again. Any one had this problem.

Second question any one know the part number?

I think it's just the Mk1 Sport and Mk1 MPS that have these rear lights. They seem rarer that rocking horse sh#t on fea bay.

A possibility. I took it down to my local mechanic on Friday and it refused to malfunction. I'm pretty sure it's a lose connection. But could be an earth, if waters getting in somewhere. Proving a pain to track down as it's working far more than not.

It's not good driving along in the dark not knowing if the darn thing is working or not. I've taken to driving like a nun the past few days and just assume it's not working and every following car is a Copper.

Ok it wasn't working when I got in from work tonight so I swaped over left & right rear light clusters. I now know it's within the light cluster. Probably just the darn LED that has died. £8.00 quid for one. Next problem you can't take the unit apart it's glued together around the outer cover.

Any one ever taken one to pieces?

Other wise it's looking like £150-200 for a new unit. which is nuts for a simple brake light failure.

Finally fitted a second hand unit from a breakers in Bristol. I found on Flea bay for £50. happily it looks like new, so matches the other side. Still way too much for a busted brake light, but better than the £135 import from Denmark :vult2: that appeared to be my only other option. I just pray the head lights never fail. :yikes:
