hi guys VAG forumite here. ive just sold up my mk2 octavia vRS, and am in the market for something that can make 300hp and put that power down all year round, still carry the family around in comfoprt and luxury whilst scaring the sh!te out of the wife when she winds me up i guess the criteria im after are a target of 300Hp/300Ibft+, a good modifying scene and availabilty and good handling from the car as im quite a big track enthusiast. has anyone driven a vRS to compare to a 6MPS? heres some pics of my vRS absolutely fantastic car, went like stink, still managed 30mpg average, handled excellent great interior and i miss her lol. she'll be hard to replace. ive driven a couple impreza's now and although the handling is excellent on them, ive not been impressed with the engines, the models with the decent power and potential seem to come on boost so much later than what im used to and it just felt gutless when in the higher gears around town. and th interiors are diabolical. not driven the evo's but im sure they wil be similar, this leaves the awd stable at the 6MPS. or il have to sacrifice space and more cash than i want to and get an S3 be gentle with me

Not sure which Impreza's you have driven but if they were standard i.e. without pro-drive pack then power kicks in very late and falls off pretty abruptly as well. Try a WRX or STi with pro-drive pack and you will see a difference. We used to have an Impreza STi with pro-drive pack (different ecu / re-map, upgraded fuel pump and sports cat), however the car also had a re-map by TSL motorsport = TSL333 pack + Group N back box . the 333 related to 333 bhp and 330 lb/ft of torque and a much smoother torque curve than even the prodrive specd STi's. Ours used to be absolutely great around town with lots of low down torque and didn't run out of pull right up to the red-line if required. Ours was dynod and was making 340bhp and the same torque so we were very happy bunnies. If you can find an STi with the TSL333 pack I highly recommend having a test drive if at all possible. I'm afraid the interior of Impreza's is their weak point as Subaru put all the money into the drive traind, brakes, suspension, engine and then must have thought "oh crap, no money left for an interior" . Whilst not very tactile to touch or great to look at it is functional. If you do go the Impreza route be prepared for some scary running costs and I mean scary. They drink fuel like it's going out of fashion and dealer servicing prices are eye watering. The upside is that they are fairly easy to work on and that spares are readily available at decent prices. Having said all the above the wife just got a Mazda 3 MPS and if that is anything to go by I doubt you would be dissapointed with a 6 MPS...... low down torque is unbelievable. Good luck with your hunt. Paul

Hello and Never driven the Skoda but had a few run ins with one when I had my old 6TS Of course he beat me...not every time though I got the MPS and stuffed him first time we met and he's never tried since Have driven loads of scoobies (working at prodrive) and quite honestly they are bare knuckle brawlers whereas the 6 MPS is a highly trained martial arts expert. Good luck with the hunt.

Paul ive driven a bug eye wrx and STI now and my friends WR1 impreza running 330hp with 3" straight through exhaust, from rolling starts in 3, 4 and 5th gear from 30mph my car destroyed him, until he hit about 3500rpm then he started to catch me back up. another problem i found, once they have an exhaust fitted they are so loud, it is impossible to put your foot down without letting every traffic cop in a 5 mile radius know that your speeding. Ive always been a huge impreza fan but was hugely let down after driving them all. i honestly believe that as a full car package i would be downgrading by getting a scooby. Good luck with the hunt. standard vRS's have no grunt what so ever only 200hp/207ibft. stage 2+ they are running upto 280hp and 330Ibft of torque which is coming in at 2300rpm, so they pull hard very early. I wanted to get my self a cupra or ed30 GTI, as thy have the k04 TFSI, which reach 360hp with only stage 2+, exhaust, hpfp and intake, but its a bit manic for fwd. fine during the dry, but i want awd now so i can use it all the time

I can see why you are interested in a 6MPS as a base car. They are basically a refined high speed cruiser with understated looks and great traction in any conditions. If you don't want to go the Scooby/Evo route then it is a choice between 6MPS and S3. The former is cheap to buy but you will need to spend a lot on imported parts to get where you want to go. The latter would probably work out cheaper to mod but they are expensive to buy. I think you might end up with an S3 because you know your way around the VW engine etc. Best of luck.

Given that the S3 is too small, then it is a no brainer. Especially if you are looking for a change anyway. Thinking about problems with the 6MPS, the most expensive issue is a blown turbo. But I don't think that it would put you off as there are upgrades out there that would put a big smile on your face. See below http://www.turbopacs.com/6-MPS-Roller-b ... eplacement)-_qp_227.html Know nothing about Turbopacs so cannot recommend them. It might give you ideas though. Your biggest problem will be finding a 6MPS. Like hen's teeth.
